Metered Customer Service Advisor – North Leeds

 

Salary: £20,865 - £26,082 + 25 days hols + 8 BH + Pension + Company Van

Location:  North Leeds area

Due to Covid 19 your current office base will be your home location.

Purpose of the role

 

Yorkshire Water are currently recruiting a Metered Customer Service Advisor who will ensure domestic and commercial water meters are read accurately and timely and to provide, wherever practicable, immediate resolution of metering issues, whilst ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service.

 

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Some of the key responsibilities you will have will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Work as part of the team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how their individual performance links into achieving the team’s wider objectives.
  • Take personal responsibility for yourself and also others with respect to health and safety, risk management and control of work to ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policy.
  • Demonstrate relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for YW that rigorously achieves our vision to be clearly the best against demanding competitive industry benchmarks.
  • Demonstrate financial awareness when making day to day business decisions.
  • Take ownership of allocated meter reading area to ensure delivery of excellent customer service, in line with the Company vision.
  • Visit customer’s premises, e.g. homes, factories, schools etc. on a cyclical basis to record water meter readings.
  • Ensure all meter reading targets are met through individual time management and effective utilisation of contractual flexible working procedures and hours of work.
  • Ensure regular maintenance of meter reading rounds and location notes to agreed standards.
  • Carry out ‘must be reads’ as issued in order to ensure DG8 compliance.
  • Carry out void inspections when scheduled.
  • Carry out ad hoc meter readings as required, e.g. checks and final reads.
  • Identify and replace damaged meters where possible and in line with trained level of capability.
  • Identify street furniture defects and undertake remedial action as appropriate.
  • Carry out basic investigation into high and low consumption and take appropriate action.
  • Provide basic advice and information for customers in relation to water supply and billing.
  • Provide support and assistance to other teams within the business when necessary in order to maintain customer service.
  • Take responsibility for the correct and safe utilisation of all equipment provided.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and adherence to accident management procedures
  • Act as a front-line representative of Yorkshire Water, ensuring that vehicles, corporate clothing and equipment are maintained appropriately, and Company values and behaviours are demonstrated during all activities

 

 

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

 

Essential

 

  • Experience of understanding where your role fits within a business plan and then developing ways to deliver the outputs.
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
  • Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
  • Basic IT skills – MS Office applications
  • Experience of working independently.
  • Ability to asset own work pattern and manage own workload.
  • Experience of working in a Customer service environment.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.

 

 

Desirable

 

  • Experience of delivering against challenging business targets.
  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
  • Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Previous meter reading experience.
  • Understanding of household plumbing and water distribution.
