Location – This is a hybrid role with a mix of working from home and travel across the region as required.  Usually at least one day per week working from a central office.

 

Working Pattern - Working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday

 

What will the role involve?

 

  • Lead a team of Water Quality Sampling Officers, Senior Water Quality Sampling Officers and Water Quality Sampling Coordinators to deliver excellent operational and regulatory water quality performance in line with regulatory requirements, IMS and performance goals.
  • Work closely with other members of the Sampling Management Team to ensure consistent delivery across the teams.
  • Lead the team to deliver excellent performance by setting clear expectations linked to business targets, having meaningful performance discussions that recognise and reward the right performance and behaviours and challenges where individual performance and behaviours do not meet expectations.
  • Drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policy.
  • Plan and deliver the Company’s regulatory and operational sampling programme to achieve 100% annual compliance.
  • Develop and implement training and induction programme for sampling team, ensuring excellent induction and assurance of ongoing competency. 
  • Ensure adherence and maintenance of accreditation in line with ISO 17025:
    • Maintain equipment calibration and method validation requirements
    • Ensure exemplary record keeping across all aspects of Quality Management Systems in line with accreditation requirements
    • Investigate and document instances of non-conformity, ensuring corrective and preventative measures are identified and implemented
    • Oversee analytical quality control and proficiency testing requirements
    • Assurance of regulatory data capture and reporting
    • Proactive management of specialist equipment to facilitate effective resource and equipment deployment.
    • Provide technical expertise and support all auditing requirements i.e. internal, sampler, BSI, UKAS etc. associated with accreditation to ISO 17025 and DWTS and provide expertise and guidance to support the process  
  • Act as technical and operational sampling/ water quality representative at various collaborative cross-function hubs.
  • Ensure optimisation of scheduling activities to ensure efficient and optimal delivery of all programmes of work.
  • Support day to day fleet management and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop longer term fleet strategy to meet regulatory demands.
  • Act as technical Subject Matter Expert and support project management activities in relation to capital improvement programmes, such as scope definition, stakeholder management and financial oversight to ensure effective delivery.
  • Represent YW at National Industry Forums and Stakeholder Meetings.

 

What skills are we looking for?

 

  • The successful candidate will have strong, proven leadership skills and experience in developing teams and individuals to improve performance and meet business objectives.
  • You will be a confident communicator, able to build effective working relationships with a range of key stakeholders.
  • You will be highly organised, able to optimise work schedules and have rigorous attention to detail to ensure right first-time performance.
  • You will have excellent IT skills as you will be using a range of company IT systems and Microsoft Office packages.
  • You will have an understanding of current drinking water regulation at a national level and an understanding of the operational and quality issues affecting drinking water supply.
