Location: There are two Leakage Night Team Leader position available. The base location will be dependent on home location. There will be the opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity from home on occasion, but the role requires that the Team Leader works closely on site with the operational teams.

What is the purpose of the Leakage Night Team Leader role?

 

The Leakage Night Team Leader will manage and drive the performance of a team of Leakage Inspectors and Trainees who work three weeks of nights and one weeks of days. As part of the role, the Night Leakage Team Leader will be expected to work the same pattern as the Team members and spend a significant proportion of their time on site with their Team.

 

The Leakage Night Team Leader will be responsible for delivering leakage reductions in the most problematic and challenging DMA's across the region, predominantly through step testing and more complex leakage investigation activities. It will be the Leakage Night Team Leaders responsibility to coordinate the Teams activities and manage the outputs. This activity has a direct impact on reducing leak life and driving down leakage to achieve our challenging AMP8 targets.

 

The Leakage Night Team Leader will ensure Health, Safety and Wellbeing of all Team members is prioritised and supports the training and development of the Team through performance reviews and progression in role.

Where you fit in:

 

As our Leakage Night Team Leader, you will

 

  • Performance manages a field-based team that operate predominantly at night to ensure they are working optimally and that leakage targets are being met.
  • Deliver leakage reductions in problematic DMA's to meet leakage performance targets
  • Work with Data Analysts to deliver accurate and efficient leakage detection.
  • Within the Team, drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policy
  • Support with the upskilling of the Team through progression planning and technical development
  • Work closely with key stakeholders including, Engineers, Data Analysist and Leakage Analysts to effectively identify where to target resources for optimal leakage reduction.
  • Have clear understanding of the financial implications, complexities and 3rd party consideration of all leakage related repair work.
  • Build a strong relationship with our Service Partners, Field Teams and key stakeholders to ensure the safe and effective completion of repair and enabling work on the water distribution network.
  • Assess and implement new technologies into standard business operations to improve the effectiveness of the Leakage Night Team
  • Highlight and manage risks and ensure they are mitigated or escalated if required
  • Manage incidents to minimise environmental and customer impact and restore services as quickly and effectively as possible
  • Provide regular management reports on Team performance
  • Undertake management intervention when performance is deviating from plan
  • Carry out management and vehicle audits and the required frequency to ensure compliance with health and safety
  • Create a safe and effective working environment in which everyone understands their role.
  • Work a rolling pattern of three weeks of nights and one week of days

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience of managing and developing a team
  • Knowledge of water distribution network configuration and operation
  • Understanding of Leakage and managing our underground leakage assets
  • Recognisable skillset that is preferred within the water industry, its regulators bodies and/or experience within the utility sector
  • Ability to lead and motivate field based operational roles
  • Knowledge of leakage management tools and techniques
  • Passion for delivering excellent service
  • The ability and experience to communicate with key stakeholders at all levels within the organisation
  • Ability to practically and pragmatically assess risks and benefits within your role
  • Strong networking and influencing skills
  • Excellent prioritisation skills and the ability to effectively manage your own and others' workloads.
  • Commitment to delivering challenging performance targets safely and efficiently
  • Full clean driving licence
