What we do!
Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.
We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.
New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry.

Where you fit in!
As our Materials and Warranties Planner, you will play a key role in shaping, improving and embedding the new Materials Planning & Logistics operating model. Ensure the effective identification, execution, and recovery of material warranties to reduce maintenance cost, avoid unnecessary procurement, and release cash or value back into the business.
Your role contributes directly to self-funded cost avoidance and recovery, improved asset reliability insight, and stronger supplier performance management.
What skills, experience & qualifications you will need:
• Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, Data Analytics, Logistics, or a related field, with proven expertise in inventory management, stock balancing, and demand planning.
• 2+ years’ experience in supply chain, warranty management or materials planning.
• Track and coordinate warranty returns, credits, replacements, refurbishments, and segregation of warranty stock, ensuring compliance and negotiations with suppliers in a timely manner in line with all condition requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, OEMs, maintenance teams, planners, and stores.
• Identify warranty‑eligible parts and validate coverage terms, ensuring accurate and timely execution of warranty claims with suppliers and service partners.
• Maintain accurate warranty and materials records within ERP systems, analyse failure patterns to support root‑cause investigations, and contribute to continuous improvement of warranty processes and controls.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Strong analytical capability with advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems, ideally SAP S/4HANA.
It is desirable that you can demonstrate experience and knowledge in:
• Reducing maintenance and materials cost through warranty recovery.
• Increase value of credits, replacements, and avoided purchases.
• Improve supplier performance transparency.
• Ensure clear visibility of warranty value realised vs available.
• Success measured through KPIs such as:
o Warranty value recovered (£)
o Cost avoidance (£)
o Claim success rate
o Cycle time to recovery
You will also benefit from having:
• Water industry experience or a background in asset-critical operational environments (e.g., regulated utilities, or other high-criticality environments).
• Experience supply chain systems.
• Experience in improving stock availability and critical spares readiness.
• Experience in managing and maintaining stock warranties.
• Be able to demonstrate a reduction in costs associated with warranty claims.
• Improved alignments between warehouses, engineering and planning functions.
• A more mature, modern inventory management capability – suitable for Yorkshire Water.
