Location: We have an exciting opportunity for a Resource Engineer to join the Product & Process–West department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers in the Huddersfield and surrounding area(days). Could this be you?

As a Resource Engineer, you’ll be responsible for managing workloads and resources to keep our raw water assets running smoothly – making sure we deliver great service, meet compliance requirements, and achieve value for money.

As our Resource Engineer you will:
- Work as part of a team to deliver excellent performance, understanding how your role supports the wider goals we’re all working towards.

- Show financial awareness when making day‑to‑day decisions.
- Operate and maintain raw water assets, achieving financial targets while staying fully compliant.
- Work within the IMS Manual Procedures.
- Operate and maintain assets following WRAP guidelines to make sure we get the best from our resources.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (Water Quality, Environment Agency, H&S, Reservoirs Act, Water Industry Act 1991).
- Work within Yorkshire Water’s policies and procedures.
- Take part in the out‑of‑hours level one standby rota for raw water assets.
- Manage raw water assets to financial targets, including direct costs for water production and asset maintenance.
- Liaise with external bodies to investigate issues, resolve queries, and tackle customer concerns (Estate owners, Planning Authorities, National Parks, Environment Agency, Farmers).
- Understand how your work affects other parts of the business and communicate clearly with internal teams (e.g. Planning, Herbicide spraying, Private spring supplies).

What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Experience of understanding where your role fits within a business plan and developing ways to deliver the required outputs.
- Ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Experience supporting and embedding change, influencing positive behaviours and culture.
- A clear demonstration of Yorkshire Water’s values and behaviours.
- Confident IT skills and willingness to learn new systems.
- Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
- A strong approach to team performance and sharing key information with the wider business.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise work effectively.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety.
You will also benefit from having:
- Experience delivering against challenging business targets.
- Previous experience in a commercial and/or regulated environment.
- Experience in the water or wastewater industry, or wider utilities, process or manufacturing sectors.
- Completion of a recognised course in Reservoir Safety Supervision.
