Location: We’ve a great opportunity for an Operational Field Manager to join our Process department, covering the Barnsley/Sheffield area. The role offers a flexible hybrid way of working, with an expectation that you’ll spend a minimum of three days each week out on our operational sites where your team(s) are based.

Where you fit in:
As an Operational Field Manager, you’ll play a key role in driving and improving operational performance through strong, effective leadership. You’ll be working across a range of wastewater assets, helping us deliver our company vision and meet our key performance commitments – from reducing pollution incidents and improving waste stability and reliability, through to delivering great customer service and managing energy use as efficiently as possible.
You’ll work closely with a range of internal teams and external partners, building strong relationships and helping to prevent asset failures where possible. When issues do arise, you’ll support with mitigation and resolution, making sure risks are managed and our regulatory targets and business goals are achieved.
You’ll also take ownership of the Operational Field Team’s financial performance, including P&L management. This means developing business plans, forecasting, and preparing mid-month and end-of-month financial reports, all while ensuring everything aligns with our financial governance standards. You’ll provide assurance to the Head of WWPP that we’re operating in line with our Financial Regulations.
Working hand in hand with our maintenance teams, you’ll help plan the return of assets to service and take accountability for wastewater performance across your region. It’s a role where you can really make your mark, both for the business and the communities we serve.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Experienced customer focused, people leader with proven success in managing large field-based teams, in busy operations environment, managing day to day reactive workloads.
- Experience of Health and Safety management processes and systems and excellent knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety standards (preferably IOSH qualified).
- Ability to performance manage – awareness required of actions on performance measures (pollution, flooding (internal, external and S&R).
- Experience of budget management (business planning and delivering to stretching plan).
- Experience of delivering against challenging business targets and realising KPIs in a sustainable and safe way.
- Influential, able to negotiate and challenge effectively.
- Proficient in all corporate safety and SAP IT systems.
- Rigorous attention to detail to ensure ‘fix first time and right first time’ performance.
- Planning ability - identifying priorities and actions to assist in delivering results.
- A full valid Driving Licence (with no more than six points)
