Salary & Benefits(5b): £29,080 - £36,350 - depending on experience + company van + 25 days holiday + 1 wellbeing day + bank holidays
Locations:
North East / North West & South Yorkshire (Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Harrogate, York, Malton, Hull, Thirsk, Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster) with regular, regional travel.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance and Calibration Technician to join the North West or North East or South Asset Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Our Maintenance and Calibration Technicians are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
Purpose of the role:
Complete repairs, maintenance, calibration and certification of Yorkshire Waters Instrumentation assets across water and wastewater treatment and pumping installations in line with current KPI’s and quality management procedures. Mobile working as part of a Maintenance Team to deliver Planned & Reactive maintenance. Driving to deliver improved asset reliability through effective decision making.
Key Accountabilities:
- Drive excellent Health and Safety behaviours in relation to policy and standards.
- Ability to identify improvements in Health and Safety and process across any areas that have an impact on your role and the role of others.
- Fully compliant with Management of change processes currently in place and work in accordance with Yorkshire Water maintenance task lists, Safe Working Procedures and Safe Systems of work.
- Take responsibility of your own PPE, vehicle & other tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good condition & reporting any defects and ensure your equipment is presented for testing and inspection in advance of expiry dates.
- You will be required to work as part of a team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how your individual performance links into achieving the team’s wider objectives, being able to manage and prioritise your own workload in line with business requirements and the Working Time Directive, whilst having to work unsupervised in remote geographical locations.
- Maintain, fault find and repair all of Yorkshire Waters Instrumentation equipment to the Company standards within the role's area of responsibility, in line with current KPI’s and quality management procedures.
- Understanding how your actions impact on the company’s water quality obligations.
- You will from time to time be required to assist in the development and training of apprentices and other less experienced craft and technicians.
- You will be expected to professionally develop in line with the progression plan for the role, with training and support given to do so, through to 'competent' level 5 technician status.
Where you fit in:
As a Maintenance and Calibration Technician it is mandatory that you can demonstrate experience and knowledge in;
- Safe isolation to the current IET regulations
- Maintenance of instrumentation (pressure, level, temperature, analytical instrumentation & flow monitoring systems)
- IT literate e.g. MS office
- Ability to produce maintenance reports
You will also benefit from having:
- Experience of maintaining, calibration and certification of regulatory instrumentation (including flow and level monitoring equipment)
What skills & qualifications you will need:
Essential skills and qualifications:
- It is a mandatory requirement that you hold a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship and or a City & Guilds / ONC / BTEC / NVQ / HNC / HND or equivalent in Instrumentation/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Professional Eng Tech registration.
- Be able to work in Confined Spaces (Training can be provided).
- Working experience of fault finding and installation of Pressure/Level/Flow/Temperature instrumentation
- Experience in an industrial asset maintenance environment
- Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships. Must possess good team building and communication skills
- Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
- Must be capable of working alone, or equally, as part of a team.
- Experience of delivering against challenging business targets
- Full clean UK driving licence
Desirable skills & qualifications:
- IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations City and Guilds 2382
- CompEx 1 – 4
- Experience of maintaining, calibration, and certification of analytical instrumentation
- Experience of maintaining, calibration, and certification of flow monitoring equipment
- Fault finding on 4 to 20 mA loops.
- Working within ATEX standards
- Experience of maintaining, calibration and certification of Ultrasonic Level instruments, Pressure instruments and any other instruments related to the water Industry.
