The IT Senior Project Manager / Tech Lead will run the successful delivery of complex projects, with accountability for governance, budgets, risks, quality, resources, stakeholders, and benefits realisation. The role requires strong strategic thinking, effective decision-making, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders to ensure projects deliver sustainable value and positive outcomes for Yorkshire Water, its customers, and colleagues.

As our IT Senior Project Manager, you will:

 

 

  • Lead the successful delivery of complex technology projects and programmes from mobilisation through to operational handover. 
  • Provide technical leadership across systems and software development activities, ensuring solutions are delivered securely, safely and in line with agreed architecture standards. 
  • Develop and maintain delivery roadmaps, priorities and investment plans that support operational and business outcomes. 
  • Build strong relationships with operational, engineering, asset management, capital delivery and technology teams. 
  • Act as the primary TECH contact for assigned projects and programmes, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement throughout delivery. 
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary internal teams, suppliers and delivery partners to achieve successful outcomes. 
  • Ensure robust governance, risk management, quality assurance and change control processes are in place and operating effectively. 
  • Work closely with architecture, cyber security, data and service teams to ensure solutions are resilient, supportable and fit for purpose. 
  • Support business case development, investment planning, procurement activities and technical evaluations. 
  • Monitor delivery performance, budgets, forecasts, benefits realisation and project outcomes. 
  • Ensure business readiness, training, adoption and operational transition activities are effectively planned and delivered.    
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote best practices across TECH delivery.

  • Smart networks, sensors and monitoring technologies 
  • GIS and asset intelligence platforms 
  • Mobile workforce and field technology solutions 
  • Resilience and optimisation initiatives 

 


What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

 

  • Significant experience leading complex technology projects, programmes or digital transformation initiatives. 
  • Strong knowledge of systems and software development lifecycles, delivery methodologies and governance frameworks. 
  • Experience providing technical leadership across software development, implementation and operational support activities. 
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, risks, issues, dependencies and project governance. 
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and delivery partners within a matrix environment. 
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels. 
  • Experience translating business and operational requirements into effective technology solutions. 
  • Knowledge of technology governance, architecture, cyber security, service transition and business change disciplines. 
  • Experience developing roadmaps, investment plans and delivery strategies. 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive results through collaboration and influence. 
  • Relevant project, programme, technology or engineering qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
