The Senior Quantity Surveyor is accountable for the commercial assurance of all financial and contractual aspects of contracted works in relation to a portfolio of schemes associated with delivery of Yorkshire Water’s Capital Programme.
This includes assuring project budgets, supporting negotiations with Contract Partners and Suppliers, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, evaluating financial risks and supporting success by overseeing the associated financial aspects.
They will also be responsible for supporting the Commercial and Contracts Manager in developing and implementing commercial strategies and identifying new commercial opportunities.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with the Capital Delivery Senior Project Managers and Project Managers to optimise contract performance and deliver contracts within budget and on schedule.
Additionally, they will support the development and implementation of contract administration, risk assessment, and procurement strategies to support the successful completion of schemes and will provide guidance and support in aspects such as risk management, cost control, and budget control.

As our Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be a key member of the team and will take an active role in seeking to improve value and achieve consistent cycle times through increased commercial controls
• Procurement and contract strategy development and implementation
• Development and implementation of key commercial controls
• Cost assurance pre and post contract
• Change control assurance
• Contract administration assurance
What skills & qualifications you will need:
• Extensive knowledge of the administration associated with construction contracts
• Ability to identify, quantify and control commercial risks
• Knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
• More than 5 years commercial experience in the construction industry, preferably in the Water/Utilities sectors
• Professional qualification, or working to a professional qualification, associated with the role
• Ability to work with all stakeholders, provide guidance and support key decision commercial outcomes that benefit Programme Delivery

• Knowledge associated with developing commercial processes and procedures
• Strong interpersonal skills
We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of two days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
