We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Lead to join the Water Service Delivery Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Water Distribution are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

The Project Lead will hold a pivotal role within the Distribution Maintenance Team, tasked with developing and delivering a cyclical AV inspection programme to ensure adherence to regulatory and organisational standards. This role is integral to the programme's success, involving the planning, coordination, and implementation of effective strategies to achieve compliance objectives whilst maintaining high performance standards.

 

In addition, the Project Lead will provide support for the delivery of projects aimed at improving performance related to Drinking Water Contacts within Distribution Maintenance.

 

Effective relationship management with stakeholders, including contract partners and internal colleagues, will be crucial to success. The role encompasses accountability for managing risks, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities.

As our Project Lead you will

 

  • Oversee project delivery, including defining scope, goals, deliverables, and coordinating activities across multiple contributors.
  • Accurately forecast and report key project information, including progress, financial data, risks, and benefits realisation.
  • Ensure strong financial management, commercial awareness, and robust scheduling in all aspects of project delivery.
  • Act as the central contact for project information, progress reporting, and stakeholder engagement, building effective relationships.
  • Uphold high standards in health and safety, risk management, and compliance with the YW Safety Policy.
  • Proactively improve the inspection programme by implementing and monitoring best practices and innovative ideas.
  • Assist with meeting coordination, including setting agendas, taking minutes, maintaining action, risk, and issue logs, and managing the team's filing structures on SharePoint sites.
  • Collaborate with wider business functions, such as Asset Planning, Finance Business Partnering, Service Delivery, and Contract Partners.
  • Coordinate resource management meetings, analyse performance data, and maintain accurate resource plans..
  • Coach individuals or small groups around Water Distribution policies and procedures as needed to assure consistent quality and performance.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Project / Programme Management knowledge and experience.
  • Strong capability with problem solving and decision making.
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail including ability to review, analyse and manipulate data to produce quality management reports in simple and comprehensible form for non-technical audience.
  • Excellent IT skills. Advanced MS office user - Word, MS Project, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint user
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills with ability to conduct presentations comfortably to staff at all levels.
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines effectively prioritising and executing tasks.

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Previous experience gained within the water industry or within the broader utilities.
  • Project/ Programme Management Certification.
  • Experience of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.
  • Experience utilising PowerBI to present performance data.
