What we do:
Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.
We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.
New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Learning are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
This role sits at the heart of turning learning requirements into a clear, achievable delivery plan. As our Learning Demand, Capacity and Delivery Specialist, you’ll bring together business learning demand with the Learning team’s available capacity, creating reliable reporting that shows what training needs to be delivered, course availability, available places and colleague training requirements. You’ll use this insight to build and maintain an integrated delivery and burn-down plan, tracking progress, milestones, dependencies and service expectations. By providing a clear view of demand, capacity, course utilisation and delivery performance, you’ll help identify where action is needed, support value for money and give the Learning team, HR Business Partners and wider business the insight they need to drive compliance and operational performance.
Where you fit in:
As our Learning Demand, Capacity and Delivery Specialist you will
- Own the learning demand and compliance pipeline, maintaining a clear and accurate view of current, overdue and forecast training requirements across the business.
- Create trusted reporting and insight on learning demand, compliance, course availability, capacity, completion and outstanding requirements to support effective decision-making.
- Build and maintain the compliance burn-down plan, ensuring there is a credible and measurable route to achieving and sustaining agreed compliance targets.
- Monitor course utilisation and delivery efficiency, using insight on fill rates, attendance, cancellations, unused places, throughput and cost to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate and prioritise learning demand, balancing statutory, regulatory and safety-critical requirements with business priorities, customer impact, urgency and available capacity.
- Plan learning capacity and resources, identifying constraints and balancing demand against trainer, assessor, administration, venue and supplier availability.
- Maintain an integrated learning plan, bringing together design, mobilisation, scheduling, delivery and evaluation with clear milestones, ownership and dependencies.
- Coordinate and control delivery, tracking progress, managing handovers and readiness, and identifying risks early so appropriate recovery actions can be put in place.
- Provide actionable data and insight to stakeholders, enabling Learning, HR Business Partners and Business Areas to understand requirements, take ownership of compliance and target interventions effectively.
- Drive continuous improvement and value for money, strengthening data quality, planning, governance and ways of working while improving utilisation, capacity, efficiency and return on learning investment.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Significant experience in demand management, resource planning, workforce scheduling, portfolio coordination, PMO, service planning or learning operations within a complex organisation.
- Expert-level Excel, Power BI and data reporting capability, with experience designing, building, automating and maintaining robust reports, dashboards and analytical models.
- Proven ability to combine, reconcile and quality-assure data from multiple sources, creating a reliable view of demand, capacity, utilisation, compliance and delivery performance.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, data-quality issues, delivery constraints and inefficiencies, and translate these into clear recommendations and interventions.
- Experience of building credible delivery and burn-down plans, balancing outstanding requirements, available capacity, operational release, deadlines and target outcomes.
- Ability to turn complex data into clear, compelling insight, using concise narratives and visualisations to support leadership decisions, prioritisation and action.
- Strong planning and coordination skills, with experience managing competing priorities, multiple stakeholders, dependencies, risks and deadlines across cross-functional teams.
- Confident and credible communicator who can build trusted relationships, influence and constructively challenge stakeholders, while considering compliance, cost, supplier capacity, utilisation and value for money.
You will also benefit from having:
- Experience of learning portfolio management and capacity planning, ideally within a complex organisation.
- Understanding of learning governance, demand planning, service standards and learning technology, including how these support effective delivery.
- Experience using learning analytics and insight to connect demand, delivery, utilisation and capability outcomes.
- Commercial and continuous improvement experience, including supplier planning, make-or-buy decisions, governance forums and improving learning processes, data and systems.
