We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Apprentice on a degree pathway to join our Asset Delivery & Engineering team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

- Salary: £24,309 per annum

Location: Hybrid- Apprentices must be able to travel across Yorkshire and attend at Head Office currently based in Bradford moving to Leeds Summer 2026.

With expertise spanning Process, Chemical Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation we support every aspect of the asset lifecycle - from concept through to decommissioning – by creating and managing assets that can last more than 100 years and so, no two days are the same.
Our Electrical Engineering team provide the electrical expertise to provide safe electrical systems and support the business ‘s aspirations for net zero carbon by 2030 and underpins excellent customer service and protects the environment via improved power supply resilience. Through our pursuit of modernisation, the team forms a centre of excellence for the promotion and development of zero carbon initiatives, power supply resilience and power system safety and reliability initiates.
Your Duties:
- During the Apprenticeship you would develop the understanding and ability to:
- Provide electrical engineering standards and policy support in way of the development of the Engineering Specifications, Safe Systems of Work, Policies, WIMES and Design Guidance
- Provide technical expertise and knowledge within the electrical discipline to lead or support on proactive and planned technical, engineering and investigations to develop detailed solutions
- Provide the technical knowledge and expertise to lead or support on follow-up Standard Investigations (SIR) for pollutions, equipment, asset and process performance shortfalls
- Provide technical support to the Business in way of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations following incidents and failures of process equipment and assets
- Draw up detailed delivery scopes of work as an output of the engineering performance investigations
- Be responsible for developing robust engineering work packages/delivery work scopes which will be transferred to a delivery team
What you will study:
The successful Apprentice will study a level 6 Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship via Sheffield Hallam University. The delivery method is a blended learning approach where you will attend weekly on campus as well as having elements of self-study. What skills & qualifications you will need:
- To hold or be predicted 5 GCSEs or equivalent grade 4 and above/ A-C including English, Mathematics & a Science Subject
- To hold or be predicted 3 A-levels at grade C and above including Mathematics.
- To have a minimum of 112 UCAS points
- A full UK driving licence with the ability to drive your own car for work purposes
- A well organised individual who can take ownership of their own learning
- A willingness to work in confined spaces and at height once trained
