As our Raw Water Maintenance Process Assistant you will
A Maintenance Process Assistant is a key frontline operator who makes sure water assets stay safe, clean, and functional, supporting the reliable delivery of raw water into the network.
- You will be part of a dedicated raw water maintenance team responsible for the upkeep of all the on-line monitoring equipment and routine maintenance of the catchwater and raw water assets including impounding reservoirs.
- You will maintain and promote a safe working environment and operate within Yorkshire Water’s IMS and Health & Safety procedures and policies.
- You will ensure the smaller assets and intakes are routinely cleared of vegetation and are serviceable and carry out ad-hoc sampling.
- You will operate and maintain assets in accordance with the company’s Water Resource Allocation Plan guidelines to deliver the optimum resource and ensure compliance with statutory requirements (Water Quality, Environment Agency, H&S, The Reservoirs Act, Water Industries Act 1991).
- You will also support the team in responding to external customer enquiries and complaints, investigating problems, and identifying solutions with key stakeholders such as Contract Partners, Estate owners, Planning Authorities, National Parks, Environment Agency and Farmers.
- You will carry out small Civil activities such as, Repairing and laying drainage, Dry stone wall repairs, Stock fencing repairs and replacements, minor private road repairs, Minor re-pointing of small wave walls and spillways. Valve testing and exercising. Also Maintenance of various raw water buildings around the reservoirs
- Confined space working and working at height are part of the role and will therefore require a medical
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- The successful candidate will be comfortable working practically and outdoors in all weather conditions. You will have previous experience/knowledge of working in an operational environment where Health and Safety is key. Previous experience of using Plant equipment, Tractors, Mini Digger and Excavators is desirable, although full training will be provided.
- You will be confident using a range of IT systems and be able to learn new things quickly. You will have excellent planning and organisational skills and be able to meet deadlines and prioritise work effectively. You will be a confident communicator able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
- It is desirable that you have previous experience in a commercial orientated and/or regulated environment or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors.
- You will need a full, valid UK driving licence as you will be driving to sites across the Yorkshire region. You will be provided with a Company 4 x 4 Vehicle as part of the role.
