We have an exciting opportunity for a Reservoir Monitoring Technician Apprentice to join the Asset Management Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Work type: Permanent: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday

 

 

Location: The Apprentice will work between sites and an office facility covering North, South and West Yorkshire area. There will be some home working involved in the role. Candidates must be willing to work across the Yorkshire Region.

The role of an Apprentice Reservoir Monitoring Engineer is a vital one as you will help ensure that Yorkshire Water manages its reservoir assets to comply with legislation and ensure the ongoing safety of the public and customers whilst ensuring that we provide our customers with a wholesome water supply that everyone can enjoy.

 

 

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

 

 

  • As an Apprentice Reservoir Monitoring Technician, you will work alongside a team of experts across the business to develop competence in:
  • undertaking monitoring and surveying tasks at reservoir sites throughout the Yorkshire region. These are some of our largest and most impressive assets.
  • Utilising the latest surveying technology in all weathers, highly accurate measurements of the structures are taken allowing for key decisions to be made as to their performance and condition, and ensuring the team delivers compliance to the Reservoirs Act 1975.
  • Whilst in the office, processing and analysis of the data is done in specialist survey software packages, and reports/drawings presented in various formats. 

 

 

What you will study:

 

 

Our Apprentice Reservoir Monitoring Engineers study the Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician standard through specialist training provider Riverside college. The Apprenticeship covers topics such as principles and use of surveying processing software packages, principles of Geodesy, GIS, trigonometry, Mathematics, error theory, photogrammetry and remote sensing and the four pillars of sustainability. What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

 

  • To have an interest in working in the great outdoors and a willingness to work in all weathers.
  • To hold or be predicted 5 GCSE'S or equivalent grade 4 and above / A-C including English, Mathematics & Science Subject
  • To have an interest in data and the environment.  
  • To hold a Full UK driving licence
