Location: This is a central role that will be based at the nearest operational site to the person’s residence.

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Waste Water Process Specialist to join the Waste Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Waste Water Service Delivery are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

The role will take a technical lead with regards to Phosphorus Operations ensuring permit compliance of these assets including highlighting areas for potential optimisation. They will provide expert technical support to the Waste Process Teams to ensure that the team meets and exceeds its targets and critical business performance measures.

 

The role will focus on improving on business processes and the operational management of Waste Water Treatment works assets with a Phosphorus permit

As our Waste Water Process Specialist you will

 

  • Business technical expert in reactive & proactive on all types of Phosphorus removal processes
  • Provide a real time central understanding of key asset and operational performance, risks and priorities via Operational feedback, catchment data and other operational systems, and coordinate timely reviews of issues arising.
  • Utilise technical skills to undertake Investigations, in line with H&S policy, to ensure that the risk and root cause of the issue is identified and appropriately actioned and where required, review adjusted operational targets to enable the works to achieve the annual average in the event of non-compliances.
  • Develop, in conjunction with operations, the required level of response including an action plan to mitigate or manage the foreseen risk.
  • Support with coaching and training of colleagues across all levels of the business as subject matter experts
  • Provide expert technical support, guidance and coaching to operational/technical roles in their delivery of the operational management of the Phosphorus removal asset base.
  • Work as part of the team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how their individual performance links into achieving the team's wider objectives.
  • Deliver regulatory and quality assurance requirements through effective planning, monitoring, control, operation, and optimisation.
  • Drive for proactive operation, responding to triggers not failure alarms, and maximising the benefits of failure predictor models.  Work closely with Network assets to develop the means of moving from reactive to proactive.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Minimum qualification to degree on Process Engineering/Chemical Engineering or relevant scientific discipline. In the absence of the qualification sufficient operational experience will be considered.
  • Experience in the Water Industry, particularly within Waste Water Treatment Process design and/or operation.
  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
  • You will be analysing complex, technical information therefore your problem-solving skills are key. You will be future focused, change oriented and be able to generate new ideas.
  • A current valid driving licence is essential.
  • Experience of Health and Safety management processes and systems
  • Proven ability to work in a busy environment, managing day to day reactive workloads.
  • An in-depth knowledge of key business processes that allow day to day delivery and visibility of individual and team performance (e.g. Hubs, Triggers process, pollution reporting)
  • Experience in incident management and asset failure recovery.
  • Rigorous attention to detail to ensure 'right first time' performance.
  • Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right cultures and behaviours.
