We are looking for an Operational Delivery Managers to cover North of Yorkshire area to join the Below Ground Vactor (North) team in our Customer Field Services department within the Wastewater Service Delivery Business Unit. The role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement with an expectation that some time will be spent working from the operational depot where the team operates.
What will the role involve?
As an Operational Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for managing remote operational teams across a specific geographical area in the Yorkshire region. You will be responsible for continuous improvement in customer service by striving to deliver a same day solution to our customers and environmental impacting incidents. Along with effective delivery of planned repair and maintenance activities on the wastewater network, whilst delivering the asset plan for network maintenance to eliminate future escapes.
The Operational Delivery manager will drive and managing operational performance, through the effective leadership, management of your team and across a range of wastewater assets. Ensuring your teams are working productively, have the skill sets to deliver all work efficiently and ensuring that health, safety, and wellbeing are at the forefront of everyone's mind.
The Operational Delivery Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of response and resolution of customer issues on the wastewater network. Consistently driving performance management and coaching of resources to deliver efficient same day solutions for both the customer and the environment.
You will demonstrate relentless drive, energy, and determination to manage the resolution of Pollution Incidents, Internal and External Flooding, Bathing Water Quality and Customer Service.
You will be accountable for Health and Safety, minimising financial risk and driving ODI performance to achieve our stretching targets and reward. Seeking alternative cost-effective solutions if mitigation is required whilst reducing the length of time mitigation is in place.
Knowledge and skills required
It is a requirement of the role to have a Management qualification / Degree in relevant technical discipline or have extensive experience in the utility/water industry - ideally with a good understanding of the wastewater networks but not essential.
You will have a strong customer focus, be a dynamic people leader with proven success in leading operational teams remotely in a busy operations environment, managing day to day reactive workloads and be able to demonstrate a track record of achieving excellent performance against challenging targets.
You will also have experience in managing, leading, and embedding change initiatives out in the field. You will have the ability to performance manage – and ideally have awareness of actions on performance measures (pollution, flooding (internal, external and Stability and Reliability) You will be proficient in IT and will have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications.
You will have experience of Health and Safety Management processes and procedures. It is a requirement of the role that you will be Health and Safety trained, preferably IOSH qualified.
It is essential that you have high levels of resilience to enable delivery of a demanding role, with proven ability to work in a busy environment, managing day to day reactive workloads.
It is essential that you have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to identify and solve issues in a timely and effective manner, to ensure that network activity doesn’t have an adverse impact on network stability or customer service.
Ideally you will have previous knowledge of Vactor and Recycler unit operations.
Travel is required as part of this role; therefore, a full valid driving licence (No more than 6 points) is an essential requirement.
Yorkshire Water is a 24/7 Operation; therefore, flexibility is a requirement of this role. Once fully trained, you will be required to participate in an out of hours stand-by rota.
