Location: Leeds / Bradford / Hybrid Working (1-2 days office a week - Bradford)

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Water Quality provides support to all areas of the clean water business unit in Yorkshire Water and ensures that customers are in receipt of excellent water quality. As a Water Quality Technical Manager you will deliver world class asset and operational excellence in pursuit of regulatory compliance; operational integrity and resilience; operational efficiency; business plan out performance and health and safety excellence.

As our Water Quality Technology Manager you will

 

  • This is a vital role within the business, you will manage and lead a team of up to 9 x Water Quality Scientists. This role is critical in delivering regulatory compliance and ensuring the public health of our customers. You will provide expert operational and technical support on the interpretation and implementation of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations.
  • You will ensure your team provides support on water quality issues to operational and customer service teams across the business.
  • You will regularly update your expert knowledge to ensure the team meets and exceeds its targets and critical business performance measures with regards the business achieving regulatory compliance; zero customer impact; operational efficiency and business plan out performance.
  • As part of the role, you will need to participate in an out of hours standby rota arrangement, providing operational cover on an evenings and weekend when required.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge and experience of operational water quality, including the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations and an understanding of both water treatment and distribution processes.
  • You will have previous experience of managing and leading a team or have demonstrated experience as a leader of a technical function and hold a science degree or similar as a minimum.
  • You will have excellent data analysis skills and be comfortable reviewing complex technical information. Ideally, you will have previous experience of delivering continual improvement in a process / production environment and previous experience in incident management, failure investigation and recovery.
  • You will be a confident communicator, able to influence and build up effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including our Regulators and industry experts.
