Location: This is a hybrid role with a mix of working from home and at least 2 days per week at our laboratory office in Osset or other sites across the region as required.

 

Work type: Permanent with a working pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off averaging 37 hours per week

With this in mind to ensure that Yorkshire Water complies with Water Quality sampling regulations you will be co-ordinating the workload of the WQ Sampling team. You will be responsible for day to day resource management, ensuring overall delivery of the sampling programme and facilitating investigational sampling resource. You will be ensuring the efficient operation of the sampling teams by allocating samples in line with the DWI regulations, sampling procedures, skill set and local geographical knowledge.

 

Where you will fit in.

 

As our Water Quality Sampling Coordinator, you will work in a small team of 4 colleagues, on a 4 on, 4 off rota, to:

 

  • Deliver the co-ordinated output of the regional Water Quality sampling teams.
  • Work to maintain 100% compliance to the regulatory sampling programme through excellent proactive and reactive resource management
  • Make sound and considered decisions to maximise efficiency
  • Act as a key Water Quality sampling contact for the sampling teams and wider business.
  • Support the day to day Health & Safety of the Sampling Team.
  • Demonstrate relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for YW that rigorously achieves against demanding competitive industry benchmarks.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of all relevant Water Quality procedures.
  • Support compliance with all requirements of the WQ Sampling Procedures, QMS and ISO17025 and rectify/report anything that might affect public health.
  • Be responsible for proactive fleet management, record keeping and planning as well as responding to reactive fleet issues.
  • Manage weekly workload based on resource and demand i.e. moving jobs to proactively manipulate resource
  • Build and maintain strong networks with stakeholders in relevant teams such as Ops Science, Public Health, Distribution, Production, Security etc.
  • Deputise on behalf of the Water Quality Sampling Team Leaders in their absence.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work across all levels and functions.
  • Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
  • Highly motivated and with a clearly demonstrated ability to use own initiative and deal with unforeseen events.
  • Is able to plan ahead according to the demands of the sampling programme and other factors.
  • A full, clean driving license

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Water Quality sampling regulations and processes.
  • Good working knowledge of YW corporate systems.
  • Experience of delivering against challenging business targets.
  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
  • Previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Ability to participate in leading team meetings, delivering updates and training where required.
  • Previous experience in a scheduling or sampling environment.
