We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Quality Data Technician to join the Water Quality Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Water Quality Team plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and quality of the drinking water we supply to our customers and in managing the environmental impact of our wastewater operations. This team is responsible for monitoring water quality, analysing data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. By joining this team, you will be contributing directly to the health and well-being of the communities we serve and the protection of the environment.

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our Water Quality Data Technician you will:

 

  • Provide the main focus for production and sign-off of DWI monthly reporting (MS Access database) including shared responsibilities with other scientists for collation of monthly exception proformas.
  • Co-ordinate production of Summary data and commentaries to Local Authorities published on share drive and for web use.
  • Produce ad-hoc data returns to stakeholders as appropriate, including:
  • Maintaining extranet reports for Business Customer Services
  • Reports for Dialysis patients.
  • Assist Water Quality Managers in collation and dissemination of results of samples from incidents and contacts to UKHSA, local health authorities, CC Water and DWI.
  • Use and maintain the Sample Manager IT application to pre-schedule/ re-schedule samples, move sample runs and produce data for monthly returns.
  • Ensure that the regulatory sampling programme meets the requirements of the Water Supply (WaterQuality) 2016 Regulations, and the operational sampling programme meets the needs of the business for water quality data to manage its operations.
  • Maintain the fails detail files used in production of balanced scorecard measures (e.g. Compliance Risk Index etc) and compliance graphs.
  • Assist in DWI vertical audit of samples.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience of understanding where your role fits within a business plan and then developing ways to deliver the outputs.
  • Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
  • Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
  • Clearly demonstrate the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
  • Scientific/Technical background preferably to degree level or significant relevant experience.
  • IT literacy (including Sample Manager, ICE, SAP, MS Office suite of applications, GIS systems).
  • Working knowledge of water treatment and catchment management practices.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Experience of understanding where they fit within a business plan.
  • A full valid EU driving licence
