Yorkshire Water has embarked on an ambitious programme to ensure we put people and in particular customers, at the heart of everything we do. To do this successfully we are looking to re-design all our core customer journeys, experiences and channels based on unified and consistent interactions, touchpoints and experiences throughout, that deliver to the right customer needs and generate positive customer emotion.  The aim being to provide customers with a tailored journey and experience which is consciously focused on their needs and situational requirements.

 

To do this we need to transform the current IT estate which supports those customer journeys, many of which have served Yorkshire Water well for over 20 years but now limit our future needs and requirements. We have just completed the work to outline our IT Roadmap for this area and we intend to invest many £m’s in delivering the capabilities which underpin our vision for customer experience.

 

We already operate agile squads in YW and will now move to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to enable us to deliver the changes necessary to support our aims and objectives.

 

 

Purpose of the role

 

 

The role is accountable for the end to end delivery of the annual portfolio of technology change for the Customer area of the Business (Retail & Wholesale). This is a mix of digital applications and a series of in house developed legacy applications. This includes partnering with Key business Stakeholders from Director level downwards, developing a demand view, co-creating investment requests, overseeing the mobilisation and execution of delivery plans and assuring the quality of outcomes. The role will also oversee and drive the delivery model towards a Scaled Agile Framework where value can be delivered more quickly and with predictability.

 

This is a Senior Leadership role requiring extensive Stakeholder Management skills and requires extensive experience in large scale delivery roles particularly using Agile and Scale Agile Frameworks (SAFe). They should have experience of leading a team(s)/squads as well as being a highly skilled technical specialist leading and driving complex projects. 

 

Where third parties are involved in delivery, this will also include significant supplier management.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

 

  • Leads the Tec Change Team in the Customer Tower to understand, plan, resource and deliver the required business and Technology outcomes
  • Maintains the primary relationship with the YW Customer Experience Stakeholders
  • Leads the work to understand business and Tec Strategy and turn that into practical and comprehensive delivery plans
  • Leads the YW relationship with Technology partners supporting delivery within the function, leveraging those relationships to increase value to YW
  • Continues to refine and enhance the Operating Model of the Team in conjunction with changes in the Customer Experience and wider Technology Organisation
  • Has to operate with budgets of circa £30m - £40m per 5 year AMP cycle
  • Has Teams/ Squads of between 40 - 60 people to lead
  • Operates as part of the Tec Change Leadership Team developing the capabilities and performance of the overall function

 

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

 

 

Essential:

 

  • Extensive experience in managing end to end delivery in large Organisations
  • Strong commercial and supplier management skills
  • Significant experience of influencing senior stakeholders
  • Experience of working with digital and cloud technologies
  • Experience of working in Agile of Scaled Agile delivery methodologies
  • Experience of the design and development of IT solutions
  • Extensive experience with 3rd party delivery teams
  • Educated to degree level and or with appropriate professional qualification
  • We are NOT seeking someone who is purely a Programme Manager
