Location:  Bradford/ Hybrid Working (a mix of office and home working. There will also be regional travel to support or social value activities which would mainly be in school term time)

You will be working within the Education & Engagement Team, which sits within our Strategic Partnerships Team.  The Education & Engagement team comprises of twelve people who are passionate about delivering a first-class education and social value programme.

 

A key element of your role will be working with stakeholders from across the business, and with schools and community organisations around the Yorkshire region, to gather data and deliver social value to our communities.  Your working week will be varied, with opportunities to work with Yorkshire Water colleagues, with our contract partners and external organisations.  

 

During term time, you may expect a normal working week to include one day in the office, one or two days out in the community supporting careers or volunteering events and the rest of the time working from home.  We pride ourselves on being a flexible team meeting the needs of all our customers. 
 

Where you fit in – 
 

As our Social Value Officer, you will focus on working with our colleagues and contract partners to create and report against social value activities taking place in our communities. This will involve assisting with the development and implementation of social value tracking with contract partners involved in our asset delivery programme and engaging with directorates across the business to develop strong reporting of our internal activities.   


You will work both across the business, and with our external partners, to identify and maximise opportunities to engage with our communities. We’re looking for someone with sound knowledge of social value and a confident communicator who can influence stakeholders at all levels.   
 

Alongside the collection of our social value data, there will be opportunities to get involved with our careers awareness programmes and support delivery of our volunteering activities.   You’ll be part of a busy and flexible team with a keen focus on providing an excellent service to all customers. 
 

As the role will involve working with young people, the successful candidate will be required to successfully pass an enhanced DBS check as part of our pre-employment checks process.
 

 What skills and qualifications you will need: 
 

•    The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in regards Social Value legislation in the UK, TOM’s and IES Framework. 
•    Previous experience of reporting on social value initiatives. 
•    Previous experience of producing reports, case studies and articles for submission for both internal and external use. 
•    Experience with community engagement and working with young people.
•    Confident communicator, with excellent interpersonal skills, able to work with a range of different stakeholders.
•    Excellent IT skills, using Microsoft Office packages – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.  
•    Strong analytical skills, able to compile, assess, interpretate and communicate data. 
•    Highly organised and able to work on your own initiative, you will be able to manage your work priorities across multiple projects and manage your time effectively.
•    Excellent influencing skills, able to provide best practice advice and guidance on all social value matters and provide a customer focused approach. 
•    A supportive, empathic individual, able to work well in a team. 

 

The role will involve travel to different sites across Yorkshire, therefore you will need a UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
 

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of one day in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
