Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future Hybrid working (1-2 days office a week)

 

Work type: Secondment/Fixed Term Contract - 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

The Analyst role provides critical analytical support to enable the successful rollout of Yorkshire Water’s smart metering programme, transforming rich meter data into meaningful insight that drives operational decision making, benefits realisation, and measurable demand reduction. Working closely with colleagues across technology, operations, leakage, and customer teams, the role will interpret complex datasets, identify trends and opportunities, and generate clear, actionable recommendations that maximise the value of smart metering. By underpinning programme delivery with robust analysis, evidence, and performance tracking, the Analyst will help ensure that smart metering contributes fully to improved efficiency, reduced consumption, and enhanced customer outcomes throughout AMP8.

As our Smart Metering Analyst you will

 

  • Provide day to day analytical and ad hoc reporting support to the Management Team, responding quickly to insight requests and emerging questions.
  • Produce and maintain BAU smart metering, leakage, and demand reports, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and easy for stakeholders to understand.
  • Support project delivery by preparing datasets, undertaking analysis, and creating reporting that informs decisions and tracks progress.
  • Improve and automate existing reports and processes to reduce manual effort, increase efficiency, and enhance data reliability.
  • Support APR reporting for smart metering (AMI) by preparing required data inputs, validating outputs, and resolving data quality issues.
  • Carry out data quality checks and work with data and asset teams to identify and resolve issues, improving confidence in reporting.
  • Work closely with SMEs and delivery teams to translate complex data into simple, practical insight that supports operational action.
  • Proactively build capability through self development, demonstrate commercial awareness, and comply with all relevant corporate governance requirements.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Significant experience working with data and delivering high quality data analysis, ideally within the utilities sector.
  • Must have previous utilities industry experience, with a strong understanding of operational data, performance metrics, and industry processes.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, and other analytical tools, with the ability to build, interpret, and communicate complex reports.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, able to turn large datasets into clear, actionable insight.
  • Experience in reviewing and quality checking the work of others, with the ability to build strong and effective working relationships across teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical detail in a clear, simple, and engaging way to non technical stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of Water Networks reactive and planned maintenance processes & regulatory commitments
