Location: We have an exciting opportunity for a Sewer Flooding Strategy Manager to join the Wastewater Service Delivery Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? The role will be covering the Yorkshire region and is a flexible hybrid working arrangement with an expectation that some time will be spent working from the operational sites from where your team(s) operate.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Where you fit in:
As our Sewer Flooding Strategy Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the business delivers on its AMP 8 performance associated to Internal Sewer Flooding (ISF), External Sewer Flooding (ESF) & Collapse.
The Sewer Flooding Strategy Manager will provide a centre of excellence for network performance improvement; responsible for maintaining and managing the company’s sewer flooding reduction strategies, as well as tactical interventions to ensure our journey to industry leading performance. By understanding the root causes of failure, they will ensure that the business makes the right interventions and have the right controls in place to improve performance and prevent repeat incidents.
Deliver network improvement through the delivery of proactive programmes and reducing network abuse, ensuring blockage reduction strategies see benefit realisation.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- The successful applicant will have a strong customer focus, be a dynamic, passionate, and experienced people leader and experience of managing and leading a team with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets
- Strong team leadership and performance management skills and an ability to embed the Company’s Values and Behaviours throughout the team
- You will have experience of leading or embedding change with the ability to influence and drive the right cultures and behaviours.
- Demonstrable technical experience in wastewater operations
- Ability to acquire, understand and interpret information, both technical and financial
- Proven planning ability - identifying priorities and actions to assist in delivering results
- Excellent written & communication skills
- You will be proficient in IT and will have in-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- You will have proven experience of strategic thinking, establishing clear strategic direction of developing and implementing the Company’s Strategic Business Objectives and Vision
- Highly motivated with a clearly demonstrated ability to use their own initiative in dealing with events and the unforeseen
- It is essential that you have strong interpersonal, communication and influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to work across teams and departments. to gain commitment from senior stakeholders.
- Experience of understanding where their team’s role fits within a business plan and then implementing plans to deliver the outputs
- Demonstrate relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for YW that rigorously achieves against demanding competitive industry benchmarks
You will also benefit from having:
- Knowledge of company pollution and sewer flooding processes
- Knowledge of pollution and sewer flooding regulatory measures
- Knowledge of wastewater operational practices, particularly the sewerage network
- Understanding of the wastewater asset base, particularly the sewerage network.
- H&S trained with either a NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
