Yorkshire Water (YW) are seeking a senior Project Manager to lead the development of an exciting and challenging programme of major Strategic Resource Options (SROs) to enhance the long-term resilience and sustainability of water supplies in the YW area. The total value of these four major projects is in excess of £2.5Bn. Reporting to the DPC Programme Manager, the senior project will play a pivotal role in driving forward one of these high value, high profile SRO or resilience schemes, coordinating activities and resources across the project, providing strategic advice to project managers and their project teams while reporting progress to senior management.

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our DPC Senior Project Manager you will;

 

  • Identify and coordinate key dependencies across the one of the four DPC projects for the various workstreams – including technical design, environmental assessments, planning consent, commercial/procurement and stakeholder management activities
  • Lead one or two of the four DPC Projects activities: Managing the preparation of documentation for regulatory submissions including RAPID gateway submissions and Ofwat DPC stages. Where necessary, coordinate inputs on the SRO project into Price Review, WRMP and other regulatory submissions. 
  • Establish and manage an appropriate governance and assurance process for effective decision making and approvals, where necessary aligning with existing YW processes. 
  • Where a applicable to your specific DPC project represent YW in the development of joint SRO projects with partner water companies. 
  • Manage risks, issues and opportunities across the project escalating key risks through the governance process. 
  • Facilitate regular project meetings to track progress and escalate decisions, including monthly meetings with the OFWAT.
  • Organise monthly Checkpoint meetings with RAPID and coordinate the preparation and submission of quarterly project dashboards to RAPID ahead of Quarterly Liaison Meetings (QLMs).
  • Manage finances and resources across your specific project ensuring high quality project development work is carried out efficiently and on time.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager or project lead ideally through the development phase of major infrastructure projects 
  • Thorough understanding of project/programme management techniques and methods.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of programme/project management software (MS Project etc.) is an advantage.
  • Outstanding management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent Stakeholder management skills in a complex, fast paced environment

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Leadership and people management of large teams. 
  • The Senior Project Manager will ideally, but not essential, have previous experience of Ofwat interactions and an understanding of the technical features of water resources projects.
  • With a working understanding of SRO’s, WRMP’s and the regulatory environment.
  • Successfully delivered programmes of work to high standards of health and safety, achieving critical business targets.
  • A recognised qualification in project/programme management such as Prince 2 or APM is desirable but not essential.  
  • Ideally, you will have experience of working with others to drive innovation to deliver project efficiencies and cost savings for the business.
