Senior Network Engineer

 

Salary & Benefits: Salary £46,681 - £58,352 per annum dependant on experience, annual bonus, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave, bank holidays, plus a wellness day and development opportunities in line with the Senior Network Engineer progression plan. Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to join the Network Technologies team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Network Technologies team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

This is a key role within the Network Technologies team where you will also support our existing network infrastructure. This will involve the day to day running and monitoring of the network throughout the enterprise diagnosing and remediating problems as necessary.  Maintaining existing network solutions that include Core Network Data Centre, LAN, Wi-Fi and F5.

As a Senior Network Engineer in networks you will

 

•           Technically lead and support IT projects.

•           Working with various project managers to ensure project deliverables are met.

•           Develop new network solutions to fit the requirements of the business and IT strategy.

•           Plan your work and ensure project tasks are completed on time.

•           Be a subject matter expert in vendor or technology.

•           Have knowledge and experience of securing networks.

•           Ensuring technical documentation is completed and updated to required standards.

•           Investigating and resolving network incidents, liaising with incident managers, suppliers and helping to resolve faults reported through our internal monitoring  systems.

•           Creating and performing authorised changes to environments.

•           Collaborate and build excellent relationships with external partners.

•           Be pro-active in improving process or service.

•           There is responsibility to be part of a stand-by on-call rota.

 

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

•           CCNP/CCIE or equivalent vendor experience.

•           Strong multivendor environment knowledge and experience.

•           Experience of working with LAN, WAN and firewall technologies.

•           Experience of supporting and maintaining a multivendor LAN infrastructure

•           Firewall experience using Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper or Fortinet.

•           Experience of managing and maintaining and securing Wi-Fi.

•           Demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving skills.

•           Ensuring technical documentation is completed and updated to required standards.

•           Creating and performing authorised changes to network environments.

•           Experience of working with external suppliers

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2 days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
