Location: Ewden Water Treatment Work, 400 Main Road, Wharncliffe Side, Sheffield, S35 0BN, with the requirement for regional travel. 

 


Work type: Part – Time.  
This position is offered on an annualised hours contract of 799.2 hours per year, working 3 days per week over 36 weeks. These weeks will primarily fall during term time, as this is when we deliver our programme. Typical working days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with a working window between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

The Social Value & Education Team sits within our Corporate Affairs & Partnerships Directorate, which is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. We’re a passionate team of 13 colleagues delivering inspiring programmes in our centres, in schools, and through virtual outreach. Following a recent internal promotion, we’re looking for a Senior Education Adviser to help us make an even bigger impact. In this role, you’ll support a team of three colleagues covering the South & West Yorkshire regions, delivering engaging educational experiences that make a real difference.

 

 

 


Where you fit in: 

 


As our Senior Education Advisor, you will: 

 

  • Deliver the education programme on a day-to-day basis across centres, schools, and community venues.  
  • Complete Health & Safety tasks promptly and maintain accurate records.
  • Regularly check equipment and PPE to ensure they are in good working order and within date.
  • Liaise with operational colleagues on-site to ensure a smooth delivery of our activities.
  • Communicate effectively with schools and groups to confirm plans for each visit.
  • Collaborate with team members to maximise delivery, assigning tasks to the most suitable person.
  • Ensure additional needs forms and feedback forms are returned by school and community group organisers.
  • Support continuous improvement of the programme based on visitor feedback.
  • Contribute to internal and external promotion of the team’s work.
  • Act as lead coordinator for all educational activity in the South & West Yorkshire region.
  • Deliver education visits in classrooms and treatment works, demonstrating a strong understanding of treatment processes, the value of water resources, and promoting the company’s activities and investment programme.
  • Conduct education outreach visits to schools and community groups.
  • Take responsibility for Health & Safety of visitors during site tours and outreach programmes.
  • Monitor delivery to ensure all visitors receive a high-quality experience.
  • Liaise effectively with site teams for safe and smooth running of visits, and with teachers and members of the public.
  • Assist the Education Team Leader in developing education offerings for all age groups.

 


What skills & qualifications you will need: 

 

  • Experience delivering education to children in a formal setting.
  • Ability to engage and educate a variety of audiences, including community groups.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt communication for different learning styles, including children and visitors with special educational needs.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships quickly and effectively.
  • Experience supporting, organising, and running projects.
  • Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence.
