Location: Buttershaw, Bradford, hybrid working (2 to 3 office days a week as required), pending office relocation to Leeds (LS10) from Summer 2026.

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

The Asset Delivery team deliver Yorkshire Water's major asset investment projects and programmes and are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

Under our Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) programme we will support a programme of giga project capital investment across Yorkshire and the wider UK. The Risk Manager will be an integral member of the PMO leadership team and the DPC leadership team and will play a critical role in the set-up of the DPC PMO and the longer term success of the programme through establishing a holistic and scalable approach to Project, Program and Business Risk Management. 

 

The DPC PMO will be closely aligned to the Asset Delivery PMO which sits within the Asset Delivery Directorate at Yorkshire Water. It will also work to fulfil and adhere to the needs of RAPID (the Water Industry joint regulatory body governing the DPC strategic programme).

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our DPC PMO Risk Manager you will:

 

  • Develop and implement a Total Risk Management (TRM) solution for the DPC programme to meet RAPID and YW goals.
  • Facilitate Risk Workshops with RAPID, other utility companies and with YW stakeholders to determine and set parameters for Risk in the DPC program. 
  • Lead and develop Total Risk Management across the programme to include Risk Workshops, Risk Logs, Risk reports, SQRA models and KPI and reporting metrics. 
  • Work with the DPC leadership team to roll out and monitor compliance with the TRM processes. 
  • Coordinate with Planning and Cost team for holistic risk models to be established.  
  • Lead the DPC Risk Management process to ensure that financial forecasts, schedules and reports integrated.
  • Working closely with all DPC and YW Stakeholders to ensure consistency, best practice and continuous improvement is realised. 
  • Proactive approach to identifying potential threats to project/programme performance and driving mitigation. 
  • Developing best practice and innovation and sharing the learning with the Asset Delivery PMO to drive maturity, supporting embedment.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience in working on PIF & Giga projects in a PMO or EPC environment implementing and manging a holistic Project & Program Risk Management across full life cycle
  • Detailed knowledge of Risk Management best practices and procedures
  • Exhibited track record of influencing project delivery through effective Risk Management from concept to handover 
  • Practitioner or certified Risk specialist familiar with Risk management tools e.g. ARM 
  • The ability to analyse and articulate key messages from project performance data
  • Experience of developing and implementing detailed Risk Management reports 
  • Experience of tracking and reporting risk trends and profiles.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent people leadership skills
  • Ability to challenge undesired behaviours appropriately.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use multiple systems.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships across the wider teams.
