Location: Buttershaw / Hybrid Working (1 office day a week – Bradford)

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk and Insurance Manager to join the Audit, Risk & Compliance team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Audit, Risk & Compliance team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

The Risk and Insurance Manager will have responsibility for overseeing the development and promotion of the risk and controls framework, assurance policy, and the corporate risk management processes across the business. This includes our risk appetite, risk reporting processes and escalation, and overseeing the network of risk champions to ensure engagement across the business, embedding effective risk and control practice and a risk aware culture.

 

This role is also responsible for the delivery of the Kelda group Insurance portfolio, working with the brokers to secure the best value cover, providing advice, and improving the management of risk and overseeing the management of employer’s liability claims

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our Risk and Insurance Manager you will

 

  • Develop and lead the risk and insurance team.
  • Support the Head of Audit, Risk and Compliance in delivering team objectives and strategy.
  • A key member of Audit Risk and Compliance leadership team, contributing to wider team planning and development.
  • Represent risk at Kelda and YW Board, the Audit and Risk Committee, the Executive and senior leadership teams
  • Lead the development and delivery of risk management training throughout Kelda Group and Yorkshire Water, including appropriate training, facilitation, and the provision of expert advice, embedding the Kelda risk and assurance framework. 
  • Work with the wider organisation to develop the risk community of practice, encouraging development, career pathways and wider competence. 
  • Work with external experts and networks to continually improve risk management and insurance in Kelda and Yorkshire Water.
  • Ensure the risk and insurance process support the YW 10-year strategy and informs business planning; so that business plans reflect the necessary treatment of risks, the strength of the control environment and the associated risk appetite.
  • Ensure that all board, executive and leadership team risk and assurance reports / insight are delivered to schedule as required.
  • Promote the use of risk analytics (including risk appetite) to support decision making at senior management level, including insurance cover

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Degree qualified
  • Extensive knowledge of Risk or Insurance Management methodologies or related disciplines
  • A good understanding of how Enterprise risk management systems, applications & processes are deployed
  • Ability to develop, maintain & leverage value from an extensive internal & external network
  • Exceptional communications skills, both oral & written
  • The highest standards of integrity & ethics

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Membership of, or working towards full membership of IRM, ACII, ISRM,  or BCI.
  • Experience of Risk and Insurance Management within an asset intensive, regulated industry
