Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future - Hybrid working.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm. As we operate 24/7, employees have the flexibility to work outside standard hours, provided core hours are covered, and contractual hours are met.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Resilience & Response Manager to join us in the Central Control function at Yorkshire Water, you will play an integral role in continuous delivery of exceptional service to our 5 million customers both household and non-household. Could this be you?

The purpose of the role is to lead and develop the wastewater 24/7 Control Room function, ensuring effective real-time operational oversight, alarm management, pollution response coordination and regulatory reporting across above and below ground assets.
The role is responsible for driving operational resilience, supporting environmental compliance and delivering growth and capability improvements aligned to emerging regulatory requirements and Yorkshire Water expectations.
Where you fit in:
As our Resilience Response Manager, you will:
- Lead the 24/7 wastewater control room operation, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant management of operational response, incidents and events.
- Indirectly via a team leader, manage and develop the alarm handling teams to ensure timely triage, escalation and coordination of operational risks and failures through adherence to alarm governance policies.
- Directly manage through the Duty Operations Engineer team the immediate response, desktop support and reporting of pollution incidents ensuring timely and accurate evidence capture, mitigation deployment and collation of detailed timelines of events.
- Support wider business RCAs when there is an alarm handling element to review.
- Drive continuous improvement in performance against alarm governance, alarm rationalisation and incident management processes, supporting our Emergency Planning Manager and Operational Intelligence Manager.
- Develop strategies and capability to support future regulatory changes, environmental targets and performance commitments.
- Support the implementation and optimisation of digital tools, telemetry systems, automation and other new platforms.
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment and succession development within the wastewater areas of Central Control.
- Ensure robust governance, assurance and audit readiness across wastewater operational control room activities.
- Work with your teams to improve operational monitoring and identification of opportunities to reduce risk through greater Control Room support.
- Act as a senior representative for the Control Room as an escalation point, participating in incident management and business continuity arrangements.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Strong operational leadership experience within wastewater, utilities, process industries or critical operational environments.
- Experience with managing 24/7 teams and high-volume alarm or incident environments.
- Knowledge of wastewater operations, pollution management, environmental compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong decision-making capability under pressure.
- Experience driving improvement via process optimisation or organisational change.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across operational and senior leadership.
- Understanding of telemetry, SCADA and digital operational systems.
- Ability to lead cultural change and develop a high performing team.
