Release Manager

We work in a hybrid fashion with colleagues working from home for the majority of the time with visits to our home office of Midway Bradford as and when necessary.

 

The role is permanent and is for 37 hours per week.

 

There is the opportunity to participate and contribute to the Teams Standby rota as well.

The role will involve planning and marshalling resources in order to plan and manage the Customer release schedule covering all changes and for all customer applications (both packages and bespoke) through all environments into production.

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our Release Manager you will

 

  • Planning and assurance of the Customer release schedule (scope to include Customer ART, strategic Customer modernisation projects and Operational maintenance activity).
  • Management of the Customer release CAB process. Assurance of release candidates prior to escalation to the central release management team.
  • Owner of the Customer TEC Delivery forum on behalf of the RTE.
  • Oversight of all changes moving through Microsoft DevOps including the generation of change submission forms and risk assessment documentation.
  • Proactive communication of Customer release content (pre and post release).
  • Co-ordination of logistical support to shared deployments (e.g. YorBill) – controls, readiness, risk management, schedule of events incl. touch testing, event support (incl. out of hours)
  • Improvements and opportunity management to Releases as a Service to Customer

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience in a Team Lead role within a professional IT environment planning, installing, maintaining, and supporting business applications.
  • Knowledge of the application development lifecycle
  • Experience of problem management capacity management and release management
  • Experience of the ITIL principles (Including Incident, problem change management processes, service transition, service operations, service level management, service asset and configuration management and knowledge management)
  • Good understanding of technical IT issues to enable discussions with internal and external technical specialists
  • Good understanding of applications and data security

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Experience working in a Dev Ops environment
  • Knowledge of server administration and data querying
  • Experience of working within a large organisation that provides Utility services
  • Experience of implementing methodologies and practices with agile, CI/CD, environment
  • Educated to degree level and or with appropriate professional qualification

 

 

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of one day in the office per month. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
