Role: Project Manager

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday within a standard working window.

 

We have an opportunity for a Project Manager to join the Asset Management department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

 

As our Project Manager, you will manage multiple projects within the AMP7 Wastewater Portfolio to support in driving Operational Excellence. You will work collaboratively with colleagues from Wastewater and across the business to drive projects to achieve our regulatory obligations around Wastewater Outcome Delivery Incentive (ODI) and stretching Business Plan targets. Our Project Manager will ensure that projects are delivered within scope, to cost, time and quality, ensuring risks and issues are managed and mitigated.

As our Project Manager, you will be able to work within a partnering environment and form and maintain excellent internal and external working relationships. You will also:

  • Have strong commercial acumen and programme monitoring and forecasting skills to ensure robust financial, project reporting, business-case creation and return on investment analysis.
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude with drive and determination to resolve or escalate project risks and issues swiftly to the appropriate personnel and forums.
  • Understand technical and business issues to assist in developing projects to solve the problem.
  • Have demonstrable experience in managing multiple projects and change within an operational environment.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally, ensuring effective communication plans are in place.
  • Produce high quality project and implementation plans, reports, project status and ongoing change management in a moving environment.

 What skills experience & qualifications you will need:

 

Our Project Manager will have experience working in a multidisciplinary team, driving business excellence and performance throughout project delivery. Holding a project management qualification (APM PMQ, Prince 2 or equivalent), you will also:

  • Be a strong communicator, able to negotiate and influence across all levels of the business.
  • Have excellent stakeholder management skills, both internal and external
  • Be confident in creating and presenting information to a wider audience, able to convey complex ideas which are easily understood in non-technical circles.
  • Have the skills to create strong, impactful business cases, to secure investment and drive business benefits.
  • Demonstrate resilience, with the ability to manage fast-paced change across multiple disciplines, whilst managing conflicting priorities
  • Be conversant with Microsoft packages including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects and PowerBI
  • Be IT literate with an ability to learn the usage of company specific software to support on project outputs including Programme Management tools, Planning and Scheduling systems, Geographic Information Systems etc.
  • Have a strong understanding on Health and Safety regulations and the importance of application in a working environment.

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Previous experience gained within the Water or Wastewater sector or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sector.
  • Experience in contractor management on site, as well as a wider awareness of Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations and relevant Health & Safety Legislation
  • Understanding of how the Water industry is regulated and able to articulate some of the present challenges facing Wastewater (for example, Pollution, Internal and External Sewer Flooding events etc).
