Location: We currently have permanent opportunities for a Product & Process Optimiser 24/7 within the Bioresources department in the Product and Process North team, working hands on with the Thermal Hydrolysis Plant and other assets on the sludge treatment facility at Esholt wastewater treatment works.

 

Daily tasks would include sampling, data capture, optimisation of plant and assets and assisting craft. The role is both hands on out on site and monitoring from the control room. Applicants need to be able to learn and understand the process to proactively step in and minimise downtime where possible to maintain maximum efficiency of the plant and ensure sewage works is compliant. Could this be you? Travel across and between sites may be required therefore you are required to have a full valid driving licence with no more than 6 points.

 

Work type: We know that you have a life outside of work and want to help you get the right balance for you. Our assets are operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and deal with a range of biological substances. The role is working an average of 37 hours per week, working a 12-hour day, based on a 4 on, 4 off work pattern (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off), with an 18-day rest period every 7th shift week, therefore flexibility outside of working core hours is essential.

No two days are the same in a life of a Product & Process Optimiser. You will be responsible for conducting routine manual and technical work on sites, including routine operations, instrument calibration, sampling, reporting, data analysis and basic maintenance checks to prevent failure and to manage and prioritise workload according to available resource and risk.

 

The Product & Process Optimiser will take ownership of the site and maintain a safe working environment by always implementing and adhering to Health and Safety procedures. This will include the management of contractors via Control of Work, inducting visitors onto sites and mitigating and resolving hazards as they arise. You will work closely with the Product and Process Engineers to maintain site compliance in and out of hours.

As our Product & Process Optimiser you will:

 

  • You will use process information, both manual and IT based, to proactively optimise the processes on site to improve process efficiency in terms of cost of treatment and energy generation.
  • Our Thermal Hydrolysis Plant and Bio- Energy Centre contains a range of complex processes and control systems, so you will need to be able to demonstrate that you can learn technical processes and be able to problem solve and drive process improvements.
  • The role is a mixture of technical, analytical, and manual duties, and each part should be met with equal enthusiasm.

 

What skills, experience and qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience of Health and Safety management processes and systems
  • Technical understanding of production processes and be able to self-manage and prioritise technical and manual workloads ensuring ‘right first time’ when completing tasks.
  • Analytical and fault diagnosis of production processes.
  • Experience of delivering continual improvement in a process / production environment.
  • Experience in incident management and asset failure recovery.
  • Be able to work on own and as part of team and be proactive and take ownership of site issues, working with others to resolve.
  • Be able to influence and challenge in the right way.
  • To use creativity and innovation endeavouring to find new ways of achieving site targets and to seek improvements to the way that tasks are successfully completed.
  • To use initiative to resolve problems or issues and meticulous attention to detail to ensure ‘right first time’ performance.
  • Proficient user of MS Office Applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams
  • Financial awareness
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively and be able to develop and maintain valuable internal and external relationships.
  • Holds a full, valid driving licence (with no more than 6 points)

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, regulated environment, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Experience of working on a Thermal Hydrolysis Plant
  • Previous experience gained working on boilers or BOAS accreditation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of asset management and capital principles.
  • Knowledge of YW risk policy and process.
  • Regulatory Awareness
