Location: Bradford / Hybrid Working (approx. 2 or 3 office days / week)

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday. 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assurance and Controls Manager to join the Asset Delivery Programme Management Office (PMO) at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

In AMP8, Asset Delivery PMO will support a multi-billion pound programme of capital investment across YW’s clean and wastewater assets. The Capital Programme is growing by over 50% as we move into AMP8. 

 

The Assurance and Controls Manager will play a critical role in the successful delivery of the portfolio by leading a team of Assurance, Planning and Controls specialists. They will be responsible for providing the services to ensure the multi billion programme of capital investment can perform at its best. They will own the end to end delivery processes, quality assurance and adherence. They will provide support, advice and expertise in governance, assurance, planning and cost controls. They will manage stakeholders at all levels. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Asset Capital Programme’s processes, products and services meet quality standards

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our Assurance and Controls Manager you will;

 

  • Lead a team of specialists to ensure the successful delivery of a multi-billion-pound capital investment program, focusing on risk, quality assurance, governance, planning, and cost controls
  • Oversee the development of processes, policies and procedures to ensure quality standards are met
  • Be a driver of change, always seeking better ways to govern and assure processes for efficiency, working closely with the continuous improvement team to drive process maturity where efficiency can be sought
  • Work closely with peers in Programme and Alliance delivery, Finance, Commercial, Asset Planning, Strategy and Regulation and other departments to ensure alignment and cross directorate working is maximised
  • Make use of industry best practice, systems and tools to enhance the Assurance and controls services we offer
  • Oversee health checks, project assurance reviews and a robust rhythm of project controls in order to fulfil 2nd line assurance responsibilities
  • Interface with the Capital delivery teams to provide proactive planning and controls activity in support of commercial decisions
  • Own the end to end process for Capital Delivery including the setting of governance expectations for investment management, gateway controls and integrated assurance
  • Be a trusted advisor to the Head of PMO providing candid feedback and analysis to assist with decision making and strategy.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Proven track record of senior leadership in assurance and controls in a PMO 
  • experience of communicating effectively at Senior levels
  • Excellent people leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Project Management skills and techniques
  • Knowledge of Risk Management in a delivery context
  • Driven and passionate about programme performance and associated process improvement
  • Ability to create excellent working relationships (both internally and externally) to facilitate cross departmental and cross organisational working
  • Proven ability of managing, implementing, and embedding process improvements
  • Experience of working with complex data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to interpret, present and communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences.

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Experience of working in a regulated environment
  • Experience of working in construction or large capital programme
  • Experience of working with Primavera P6 (or equivalent planning tools)
  • Experience of implementing Earned Value Management (or equivalent)
  • Experience of leading a Quality Management System in a PMO/Programme Delivery environment
