Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (1 to 2 office days a week – Bradford/Leeds)

 


Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Join Yorkshire Water as a Service Manager for the Wastewater Services Agreement (WwSA) and play a pivotal role in delivering a high-performing, collaborative contract environment. Acting as the named Service Manager under an NEC4 Term Service Contract, you’ll take ownership of contract administration, ensuring both Yorkshire Water and its contractors meet their obligations while driving efficiency and value. You’ll work closely with a range of stakeholders to assess and manage compensation events, using data-driven insights to support fair and effective decision-making. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine commercial expertise, relationship management, and operational insight to influence performance and make a tangible impact on service delivery.

As our NEC Service Manager, you will:

 

 

  • Lead the effective administration of the Wastewater Services Agreement (WwSA) in line with NEC4 Term Service Contract (Option A), ensuring timely responses to early warning notices and compensation events and maintaining full compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Build and strengthen collaborative relationships with contractors, adopting a proactive, solutions-focused approach to resolve challenges and drive positive outcomes.
  • Organise, chair, and facilitate meetings relating to early warning notices and compensation events, ensuring clear communication and timely decision-making.
  • Provide robust assurance that all parties are operating in line with contractual requirements by reviewing documentation and evidence and developing assurance plans in partnership with Commercial Investment & Vendor Management.
  • Manage contractual disagreements by seeking guidance from Commercial Services and Legal teams and initiating formal dispute resolution processes where required.
  • Deliver end-to-end contract administration activities, including issuing and managing formal communications through the designated contract management system.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Wastewater colleagues, offering expert guidance on how to utilise the WwSA to enhance operational efficiency and control costs.
  • Work collaboratively with the CFS Vendor Management Team and Commercial Services to review contractor payment applications, ensuring all costs are accurate, justified, and compliant with contract terms.
  • Engage regularly with contractors to discuss matters relating to the successful delivery and ongoing optimisation of the WwSA.

 


What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

 

  • Demonstrated experience within the water or wastewater sector, or across wider utilities, process, or manufacturing industries, bringing transferable operational and commercial expertise.
  • Proven track record of delivering sustainable performance against challenging business targets, driving continuous improvement and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong programme, project, or contract management experience, ideally within a regulated environment, with a clear understanding of governance and compliance requirements.
  • Holds, or is working towards, a relevant contract management qualification (e.g. NEC), with a commitment to professional development.
  • Knowledge of wastewater network operations, including common failures and repair methodologies, is advantageous.
  • The ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • To bring energy, resilience, and a results-driven mindset, with a clear focus on achieving and sustaining high performance.
  • Communicates confidently and effectively, both verbally and in writing, adapting style to suit different audiences.
  • Applies strong problem-solving skills to resolve issues, mediate challenges, and drive practical solutions.
  • Works independently with confidence, taking initiative and ownership to deliver results.
  • Effectively manages contract partners, using KPIs and performance measures to drive accountability, improvement, and value.
