Location: Bradford / Hybrid Working (notionally 2-3 days in the office per week - Bradford)

 

Work type:  This is a permanent opportunity, working full time, 37 hours per week, within our working window of 8:00am-6:00pm, Monday- Friday

Strategy & Regulation are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Our Modelling and Data team work closely with our Environmental Modelling team and alongside the Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan team to produce high quality models and water quality outputs to enable us to support the wider business to deliver key regulatory outputs.

 

This is a key strategic role which offers the opportunity to grow the existing team to meet the expanding work load we have in delivering the Storm Overflow Discharge Reduction plan and any outputs of the Water Industry National Environment Plan.

 

You will have the opportunity to develop and shape our technical guidance documents. You will work with our internal teams as well managing the technical work of our contract partners in delivering a variety of programmes of work.

 

We work closely with our operational and programme delivery colleagues and across a number of contract partners to ensure we deliver high quality outputs from our models and data for a wide variety of challenges across the business, where you will be able to develop your own area of responsibility and expertise.

 

Our teams cover both wastewater, river and water quality modelling and are looking to develop individuals which cover the full range of specialisms. We offer support and training to develop on your existing skillsets.

 

Where you fit in:

 

The Modelling Data & GIS Technician is responsible for supporting the delivery of wastewater network and river water quality modelling . The technician will support the team to collate, analyse and present data from multiple internal and external sources. It is expected that this will include organising the data in a manner that can be used to support decision making by internal and external colleagues, and as part of this will develop and document a robust auditable methodology for the sharing of information.

 

You will -

 

  • To identify, collate, visualise and share data required to support the delivery and implementation of wastewater sewer and river water quality models.
  • Support the team in identifying improvements to the modelling policies and processes.
  • Support model development and scoping exercises to define investigation needs.
  • Collate and analyse data and be responsible for making it available in a GIS format.
  • Analysis of complex datasets to identify trends and communicate outcomes both internally and externally.
  • Supply/facilitate the supply of the base data required from Yorkshire Water to enable specialist modelling consultants to carry out environmental modelling work.
  • Provide support to specialist modelling consultants regarding understanding and use of base data provided from Yorkshire Water or Yorkshire Water systems.
  • Check the data returned by the monitoring contractor and ensure it is fit for purpose; work with the contractor to rectify any issues that arise during the monitoring programme.
  • Contribute towards technical innovation.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Educated to A level or Tech level
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience of report and presentation writing and the ability to clearly communicate ideas and concepts
  • Self-driven with an ability to identify and source data sets from both inter-nal and external stakeholders to support analysis and decision making
  • Strong data manipulation and analytical skills, with an eye for detail
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems including excel
  • Owns and has a positive attitude to solving problems
  • Rigorous attention to detail to ensure 'right first time' performance
  • An ability to work on your own initiative and manage own workload to support the Modelling and Data and Environmental Modelling teams
