We have an exciting opportunity for a Metering Stock Controller to join the Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Water Service Delivery are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

This role sits within the Metering department and is responsible for the technical management of metering stock to ensure operational teams have the correct inventory to meet service demands. It involves overseeing the accurate testing, storage, and classification of stock for either redeployment or manufacturer warranty claims, which must be logged and managed through to resolution using provider systems. The role also ensures all stock is recorded on Metering systems such as SharePoint, including visibility and accountability for items held at regional depots. Compliance with YWS Metering Standards is essential, and the role requires regular reporting on stock levels, with escalation of low stock or quality issues to management to maintain operational efficiency and service quality.

As our Metering Stock Controller you will

 

  • Embed and champion new logistics and stock control processes across Metering teams.
  • Ensure consistent application of warranty procedures, providing feedback on incorrect asset returns.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of Metering asset stock needs and ensure availability.
  • Optimise stock levels across Yorkshire store locations to support operational efficiency.
  • Establish a centre of excellence for stock management within the Metering function.
  • Promote and uphold high standards in health and safety, risk management, and compliance with YW Safety Policy.
  • Drive continuous improvement through innovation, embedding new processes and ways of working.
  • Ensure safe, tidy, and well-organised stores and drop points, delivering efficient Metering Stores operations.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Ability to work on your own or as part of a Team
  • Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
  • Experience of using IT packages for example Excel.
  • A good understanding of stores and logistics principles.
  • Experience of working in a stock environment.
  • Able to identify practical and innovative solutions to challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Current valid driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Yorkshire region.

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for increasing efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Basic knowledge of IT Microsoft systems.
