Location: Regionally based at a Yorkshire Water office in one of the following locations: Leeds, Bradford, York or Sheffield, Hybrid Working (1 office 1 day / week

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday. 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Project Manager to join the Engineering Performance Team in Engineering under the Capital Asset Delivery function at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The Capital Asset Delivery team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

You will take a lead role in the effective delivery of multiple projects from concept through design and construction. 

 

Where you fit in: 

 

As our Lead Project Manager, you will oversee:

 

  • Delivery of projects from conception to close out through the project life cycle, including multiple projects running concurrently. You will ensure that project delivery is in line with the business requirements in terms of time, cost, and quality. 
  • Forecasting and assuring project and programme level expenditure, as well as key milestones in line with wider programme requirements. 
  • Ensuring that works are planned and undertaken safely – knowledge and experience in construction is essential. 
  • Contract administration through directly procured, or the NEC suite of, contracts. 
  • Responsible for identifying, communicating, and reporting changes including the identification and development of risk mitigation measures. 
  • Management of multi-disciplinary stakeholders, both external and internal, to achieve project outcomes. 
  • Promoting and supporting the Energy Optimisation programme.
  • Promoting and supporting the Asset Optimisation programme.
  • Exploring and promoting innovation to modernise our Target Operating Model for more effective and efficient operation.
  • Solutioning and Optioneering different opportunities to enhance Engineering performance.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need: 

 

  • Electrical, ICA or Mechanical based apprenticeship or Engineering degree or equivalent 
  • ONC/HNC/BTEC in Electrical, ICA, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Understands the principles of control of works - Permits, POWRA, RAMS, SSOW etc.
  • Understands the major Water & Wastewater processes and the effect/role of MEICA equipment in this.
  • Has a broad experience with electrical, ICA and mechanical equipment and can use this experience to produce engineered solutions to resolve business risks and other issues.
  • Has a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the CDM Regulations and their practical application.
  • Has a good understanding of the design and project delivery process including hazard identification, risk assessment, and site supervision.
  • Can respond/answer to a wide range of specific technical and non-technical detailed queries.
  • Understands and has experience of working to ATEX standards.
  • Proven and significant industry relevant engineering project management experience in a regulated medium to large scale industrial/chemical process environment.
  • Experience of managing and leading technical/engineering delivery contractors with a proven record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.
  • Proven engineering project management experience covering NEC type contracts.
  • Practical working knowledge and familiarity with operating projects in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
  • Proven ability to create, manage and resource manage multiple projects using Microsoft Project or another recognised PM software.
  • Experience of business planning, resource, and budget management, able to balance risk and value in all decisions.
  • A robust knowledge/application of Process Safety Management principles i.e., experience of Project Engineering Risk Assessment/Safety Reviews, Method Statements & Risk Assessment (RAMS) Review and Control of Works.
  • Experience of procurement methodology, creating bid packages and contractor tender processes.
  • Experience of and proficiency in the use of; Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS, e.g., SAP) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts into more readily understood information suitable for a wider business audience, able to influence people across multifunctional teams throughout the business.
  • Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
  • Current full valid EU driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Yorkshire region.

 

You will also benefit from having: 

 

  • Professional member and/or qualification in Project Management (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, Six Sigma etc)
  • CITB, SMSTS trained with valid card or certification.
  • Contractor engagement and management experience.
  • Previous experience with delivery of projects to comply with regulations such as DSEAR, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, PSSR etc.
  • Asset management experience within a large-scale engineering or process related industry. 
  • Experience of technical contract management, tender review and setting of technical KPI’s.
  • Previous experience in a senior operational role in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Membership (or working towards) of a recognised Engineering Institution
  • Previous experience with maintenance strategy techniques such as FMEA, FMECA, RCM etc.
  • Previous experience with Business Information Modelling (BIM). 

 

Essential discipline specific skills.

 

Electrical biased role:

 

  • Qualifications and experience to facilitate YW Electrical Authorisation (LV) including permit issue.
  • City & Guilds certified for the latest edition BS 7671
  • Can demonstrate a good understanding of the assorted items of LV equipment commonly found on YW sites.
  • Can make recommendations or diagnose issues with LV equipment commonly found on YW sites.
  • Understands AMTECH cable sizing software and can produce simple cable sizing calculations.
  • Can make recommendations or diagnose issues with LV equipment commonly found on YW sites.
  • Has awareness of PLC, HMI, SCADA, and telemetry configuration.
  • Has an awareness of various instruments commonly found on YW sites.
  • Has an awareness of YW telemetry systems.

 

ICA biased role:

 

  • Qualifications and experience to facilitate YW Electrical Authorisation (LV).
  • Can make suggestions to or challenges the use of PLC, HMI, SCADA, Telemetry, and the various instruments commonly found on YW sites.
  • Can amend and diagnose issues with PLC, HMI, SCADA, Instrumentation and understand the need for chance control.
  • Can make recommendations or diagnose issues with YW telemetry systems.

 

Mechanical biased role:

 

  • Can demonstrate an understanding of water and wastewater equipment sizing and selection e.g., pumps, screens, blowers.
  • Can make suggestions to or challenge water and wastewater equipment sizing and selection e.g., pumps, screens, blowers.
  • Can make recommendations to or diagnose water and wastewater equipment sizing and selection e.g., pumps, screens, blowers.

 

You will need to communicate results and deliver/explain/influence strategies to a broad range of colleagues, so you must have the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels within the organisation using the full spectrum of techniques and resources available.


Site investigations and support are an essential component of this role, so you must have a current valid driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Yorkshire region.
