Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Yorkshire Water is looking for a Lead Design Engineer in water/ wastewater treatment process engineering to join their Engineering Design team.

 

The Lead Design Engineer will report to the Senior Design Engineer (Process) and will work closely with a team of professional civil, mechanical, and electrical design engineers. You are expected to deliver proficient and efficient process engineering design support to ensure that schemes and programmes are completed in line with Yorkshire Water Engineering Specification, design guidance and legislation and relevant British and European Standards. They will work closely with Yorkshire Water’s Strategic Planning Partner and AMP 8 delivery partners to deliver high impact solutions. 

 

Working for a client organisation you will lead the feasibility studies and optioneering to generate the most appropriate design solution by drawing on the application of new and innovative approaches, processes and technology. 

 

Where you fit in:

As our Lead Design Engineer you will:

 

  • Identifying and initiating process engineering design, construction and commissioning solutions against a TOTEX and whole life cycle process  
  • Determining continuous improvement needs including feedback from commissioning to design guidance and engineering specification.
  • Provide process engineering support from solution development through outline and detailed design until commissioning via design meetings, design sprints value engineering meetings, Hazop studies and site visits.
  • Manage and update the Yorkshire Water Design Guidance documents. Consult key stakeholders and incorporate best practice from existing sites and learning from new schemes.
  • Support the development of standard designs in conjunction with the Engineering Design team and supply chain.
  • Checking and commenting on process designs to ensure quality is upheld.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • A degree level qualification (or equivalent) in chemical engineering, chemistry or a related engineering discipline
  • Process knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes
  • Significant process engineering design experience in the water industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts into more readily understood information suitable for a wider business audience, able to influence people across multifunctional teams throughout the business.
  • Experience of working on multiple deliverables to project deadlines.
  • Full valid UK driving license.

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Experience in the application of quality procedures and document control in engineering design.
  • Experience in identifying practical/innovative solutions to ensure the risks from a process plant are As Low As Reasonably Practicable with the ability to apply cost-benefit analysis where appropriate
