Lead Business Analyst  

 

Salary & Benefits(4a): £44,254 - £55,318 up to 10% pension with 5% contribution + annual bonus + retail savings schemes + online GP access + life assurance cover + free on-site parking + 25 days holiday + 1 wellbeing day + bank holidays 

Location: Bradford, Buttershaw, BD6 2SZ/ Hybrid Working (1 office day a week – Bradford) 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

You will be leading the definition of technology enabled business change through the direction and supervision of other BAs as well as taken a hands on approach across the Customer change programmes and continuous improvement initiatives which will have a measurable impact within both the organisation and to YW customers. This will be a key role in helping to define the BA approach within YW and supporting in the delivery of significant change initiatives, driving forward to both enhance existing systems and implement new technologies.

Where you fit in: 

 

As our Lead Business Analyst, you will:  

  • Take full responsibility for business analysis within a significant segment of an organisation where the advice given, and decisions made will have a measurable impact on the efficiency or effectiveness of the organisation. 

  • Plan and leads scoping, requirements definition and priority setting for complex, strategic programmes. 

  • Facilitate business change within the organisation, drive business requirements analysis to produce requirements specifications to a level capable of being used to enable implementable change and / or IT solutions. 

  • Probe and develop a deep understanding of business processes and business operating models.  

  • Obtain customer sign-off of change and IT related requirements. 

  • Develop and display commercial awareness.   

  • Liaise with various stakeholders to develop implementation plans, including business process change, organisational change, system and behavioural change. 

  • Lead the selection of appropriate business analysis methods, tools, techniques, selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches. 

  • Develop organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for requirements definition and management. 

  • Use various industry recognised tools and techniques for eliciting the actual business needs.  

  • Collect data and information from various sources and resolve conflicts by facilitating discussions between various stakeholders, including management teams. 

  • Ensure that IT delivers best value services and solutions.  

  • Drive the vision of IT services to meet the company vision, values & objectives through a rounded understanding of business operations (including the regulatory environment) and strong working relationships with our stakeholders Contribute to IT contingency and security planning aligned with the business continuity plans.  

  • Maintain strong and effective relationships with external partners, providing influence and guidance on future strategic roadmaps and ensuring value for money.  

  • Demonstrate role model professional behaviour and corporate values, consistently improving the value of technical solutions within the business with all interactions.  

  • Ensure business buy-in and commitment through appropriate governance and sign-off of requirements. 

  

What skills & qualifications you will need:  

 

  • A broad business understanding and deep understanding of own specialism(s). Performs highly complex work activities covering technical, financial, and quality aspects. 

  • Initiate influential relationships with internal and external customers, suppliers, and partners at senior management level, including industry leaders. 

  • Possess an inquisitive, questioning nature.  

  • Highly motivated & self-reliant; possess a strong sense of purpose & proactively seek responsibility and ownership. 

  • Ability to pick up & own issues or projects on behalf of the Leadership Team  

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert business requirements into technical tasks 

  • Good understanding of software development practices 

  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and ways of working 

 

You will also benefit from having: 

 

  • Familiarity with ARIS Business Process Management tools 

  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors. 

  • A sound mathematical aptitude would be advantageous.  

  • Professional qualifications in Business Analysis (e.g. BA International Diploma, Lean Six Sigma accreditation) 

  

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 1 day in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
