Location: Bradford BD6 / Hybrid Working (two office days a week – Bradford).
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Our Company Secretariat team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
The Insurance Risk Lead will be responsible for delivery of the insurance renewal programme for YW/Kelda, day to day liaison with our brokers, and supporting the overall insurance strategy to ensure best value and coverage policies. This role also involves identifying and mitigating insurance risks and driving continuous improvement. Insurance initiatives and opportunities are identified and managed to drive positive outcomes.

As our Insurance Risk Lead your key accountabilities will include:
Insurance Renewal
• Oversee the provision of information from internal data sources.
• Evaluate, validate, and assess the accuracy of provided data while identifying potential areas for improvement.
• Provide and manage insights and ensure timely distribution of renewal documentation.
• Coordinate with the finance department regarding insurance premiums and rebates.
External Relationships and Initiatives
• Collaborate with brokers to support and develop the insurance strategy.
• Facilitate initiatives by involving YW subject matter experts in broker discussions.
• Manage insurer site visits from initiation to completion, including tracking progress on agreed recommendations.
• Represent YW at relevant industry forums and groups as required.
YW Insurance Risk
• Attend regular meetings with internal and external teams to review claims experiences.
• Analyse YW’s claims exposure across all policies.
• Share insights and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
• Maintain and regularly update the company risk register with insurable risks.
Internal Relationships and Processes
• Work closely with audit, risk, and compliance leadership on enterprise-wide risks.
• Partner with departments such as land and property to address insurance risks.
• Promote awareness and understanding of the YW insurance programme.
• Oversee internal claims procedures and material incident notification processes.
• Provide ad hoc insurance advice as needed.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
Technical and Strategic Skills
• Ability to support delivery of renewal strategy and long-term objectives for the insurance programme.
• Strong understanding of risk management principles.
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory obligations, including the Insurance Act 2015.
• Skilled in using various tools to analyse data and report insights to stakeholders.

You will also benefit from having:
• Professional qualification e.g. IRM, CIM or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in the Water or Utilities sectors.
• Experience of insurance claims handling.
• Full valid driving license as occasional travel to operational sites across Yorkshire is required.
• Intermediate user of Microsoft Office packages; Excel, Project, Power BI, PowerPoint and Word.
