Location:  Bradford / Hybrid Working (2-3 days office a week – Bradford)

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Where you fit in:

 

As our Insurance Claims Handler, you will 

 

  • Process personal injury and property damage claims, from initial notification to settlement. 
  • Review, investigate, and assess the validity and scope of claims related to water utility incidents. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. legal, customer services) and external parties (e.g. third-party contractors, solicitors) to gather relevant evidence and witness statements, ensuring a comprehensive investigation into each claim.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all claims, actions taken, and outcomes achieved. 
  • Ensure that all claims are processed in compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and relevant health and safety legislation within the water utility sector.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to claimants, addressing their concerns and keeping them informed throughout the claims process. 
  • Demonstrate empathy and professionalism while maintaining a solution-focused approach.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve the handling of claims, contributing to departmental efficiency and customer satisfaction.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in handling insurance claims, ideally within the water utility, or similar industries. Experience working in the insurance sector or legal field and in personal injury claims are desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance claims processes, including legal frameworks, liability assessments, and settlement negotiations.
  • Professional qualifications in claims handling or insurance would be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate effectively with claimants, legal representatives, and insurers.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple claims simultaneously with precision and accuracy.
  • Ability to assess complex situations, identify risks, and propose practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards governing insurance claims handling, particularly within the water utility sector.
  • Be passionate about providing an excellent customer service.

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • A degree in Law, Insurance, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Professional qualifications in claims handling or insurance would be an advantage.
