Salary and benefits: We are offering a competitive salary – up to £115,000, dependent on experience + generous pension + 25 days holiday per annum, plus a wellness day (excluding bank holidays) + Executive Incentive Plan + Company Car Lease + Private Health Insurance (for self and partner if applicable)
Location: Regionally based, flexible hybrid working with a mix of home working and working from one of our regional offices.
Working Hours: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, expectation to participate in a standby rota

The Asset Management team forms the strategic backbone of our business. Reporting to the Executive Director, Asset Management, the Head of Strategic Asset Management & Innovation will lead the transformation of asset management and innovation practices across the business, embedding modern principles that drive our short-term ambitions and long-term value, resilience, and sustainability. This role will shape the company’s strategic approach to managing its water and wastewater assets, ensuring investment decisions are risk-informed, data-driven, and aligned with regulatory expectations and ultimately delivering positive customer and environmental outcomes. The role will also shape and deliver our innovation strategy that enables the business to better now in the future.

What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Proven leadership in asset management and transformation within a regulated infrastructure environment.
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle planning, risk management, and investment optimisation.
- Experience in regulatory engagement and business planning (e.g., Ofwat price reviews).
- Demonstrated success in leading organisational change and embedding asset management principles.
- A leader in innovation from policy to practice.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Relevant degree (e.g., Engineering, Asset Management, Environmental Science) and professional accreditation (e.g., IAM, CIWEM, ICE) desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Investment
- Maintain the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) aligned with corporate strategy.
- Develop investment strategies balancing performance, cost, risk, and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory planning cycles (e.g., PR29).
Asset Management Transformation
- Elevate asset management maturity to excellence under the Asset Health License.
- Embed ISO 55000 standards and whole-life asset thinking.
- Lead change programmes to modernise systems, culture, and capabilities.
Risk Management
- Establish enterprise-wide asset risk frameworks.
- Integrate risk-based approaches into planning, operations, and monitoring.
- Ensure governance, resilience, compliance, and service continuity.
Asset Intelligence
- Advance asset data, condition assessments, and deterioration models.
- Drive digital tools, analytics, and predictive technologies.
- Promote smart asset adoption for better decision-making.
Innovation Transformation
- Deliver innovation strategy across operations, engineering, and maintenance.
- Embed ISO 56001 standards and best practice.
- Build high-impact innovation capability to improve outcomes.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as key liaison with regulators (Ofwat, EA, DWI).
- Support executive representation in industry forums.
- Ensure transparency in submissions and reporting.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead a high-performing asset management team.
- Collaborate across functions for integrated planning and delivery.
- Foster accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
