Location: Regionally based, flexible hybrid working with a mix of home working and working from one of our regional offices.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. The Asset Delivery team deliver Yorkshire Water’s major asset investment projects and programmes and are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.  

 

The Head of Infrastructure Programme Delivery will be accountable for delivering a major programme of construction work to improve Yorkshire Water’s water and wastewater below ground infrastructure networks. These improvements include creation of new pipelines as well as the repair and replacement of significant sections of our existing network.

 

The role will lead a team of Programme and Project Managers to safely deliver projects to time, cost and quality commitments. Additionally, the role will drive improvements in safety, customer experience, efficiency, carbon and productivity through a programme approach to delivery and the adoption of innovation and modern methods of construction. The role involves collaborating across boundaries to secure outcomes and includes internal stakeholder management, as well as engagement and management of the relationship with our supply chain partners, creating an outcome-focussed collaborative delivery environment.

 

This is a Senior Leadership role at Yorkshire Water. The role is part of the Asset Delivery team and reports into the Director of Asset Delivery. It is of strategic importance in a programme of works with a value of c.£1bn over a 5-year period.

As our Head of Infrastructure Programme Delivery, you will;

 

  • Lead a diverse team of YW employees, partners and supply chain to successfully deliver the capital programme
  • Deliver the programme with an industry-leading H&S performance and ensure new assets support safe operation and maintenance.
  • Drive productivity, efficiency and innovation to ensure that we deliver the programme within the funding allowance
  • Ensure that all regulatory obligations to be delivered through capital projects are achieved
  • Play a wider senior leadership role within Yorkshire Water actively engaging with other teams across Yorkshire Water and managing the input required from the wider organisations to meet the programme objectives.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience of managing and leading a diverse multi-disciplinary team in a complex stakeholder environment with challenging business targets.
  • Experience of successfully delivering engineering/asset related projects or programmes at scale including resource and budget management.
  • The political and business acumen to develop and embed good relationships at a senior level with internal and external stakeholders to drive value across organisational boundaries.
  • Adaptability to maintain focus move between strategic planning and tactical problem solving
  • Understanding of governance, assurance and risk management policies, procedures and best practice.
  • Strong understanding of commercial models and experience of managing complex frameworks and/or contracts and supply chain relationships.
  • Experience of creating and leading high performing teams
  • Ability to coach and influence senior managers and key stakeholders
  • Values and behaviours aligned to Yorkshire Water’s expectations
  • Energy and determination to deliver sustainable performance improvement against demanding competitive industry benchmarks.
