Where I’d work: Yorkshire region, home based remote working 

 

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday working rolling 4-day week to core hours. You will need to participate in an out of normal working hours stand by call out rota and be flexible to work outside of core hours.

Where you fit in: 

 

As our HV Electrician you will be responsible for the completion of Planned and Reactive Electrical tasks within timescale, quality and cost parameters. Able to manage and prioritise your own workload in line with business requirements and the Working Time Directive, you will also:
 

  • Proactively identify and report any follow-on work or areas for enhancement. 
  • Work unsupervised in remote geographic locations, taking part in a standby rota as required. 
  • Specify parts and equipment required for procurement as part of your day-to-day role. 
  • Ensure you minimise risk to people and equipment by leaving adequate handover information for colleagues who may be asked to complete any work. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and sub-contractors. 
  • Demonstrate financial awareness when making day to day business decisions, identifying ways to improve value and service delivery. 
  • Drive excellent Health and Safety (H&S) behaviours in relation to policy and standards, identifying H&S improvements across any areas that have an impact on your role and the role of others. 
  • Understand and comply with all responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, working in accordance with YW Task Lists, Safe
  • Working Procedures and safe systems of work. 
  • Be fully compliant with the management of change processes currently in place. 
  • Conduct your own risk assessments and populate appropriate method statements required to safely carry out maintenance activities. 
  • Maintain PPE, van and other tools and equipment in good condition, reporting any defects promptly, ensuring your equipment is presented for testing and inspection in advance of expiry dates. 
  • Use company corporate systems to keep colleagues fully informed of any work completed or any specific conditions remaining on site following such work. 
  • Supervising and permitting, when required, of approved sub-contractors. 
  • Use of current and future provided IT systems to capture all work activity and job status in line with workflow protocols. 
  • Assist in the development and training of apprentices and other less experienced Craft. 

 

What skills & qualifications you’ll need: 

 

  • Our HV Electrician will hold a recognised Electrical Craft/Technician Apprenticeship, with a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or; 
  • JIB approved/ equivalent electrician or Eng Tech 
  • IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations City and Guilds 2382 

 

You will also demonstrate knowledge and experience in: 

 

  • Safe isolation  
  • As a time served industrial electrician 
  • Fault finding with industrial motors and starters 
  • Fault finding with industrial 3 phase systems 
  • Working with rotating equipment 
  • The ability to provide feedback on electronic work management systems. 

 

You will also benefit from having: 

 

  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors. 
  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment. 
  • HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering 
  • CompEx 1 – 4 
  • IET 18th Edition Inspection & Testing City and Guilds 2394 and 2395 
  • City & Guilds accredited HV Training course or equivalent 
  • Working within ATEX standards 
  • Maintenance, operation, installation and testing of High Voltage equipment. 
  • Fault finding on LV and/or HV circuits and on control circuits. 
  • Experience working on HV Variable Speed Drives, direct online drives and auto transformers. 
  • Experience working with Ozone generation systems. 
  • JIB approved. 
  • Ability to produce single line/electrical diagrams and create HV switching plans. 
  • Issuing, receiving, clearing and cancellation of permits to work, sanctions for test and limitations of access permits.
