Starting salary: £32,000, rising to £37,000 by end of year 2

Location: West Yorkshire with requirement for flexible travel across Yorkshire & Humber.
Work type: 37 hours per week between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm Monday – Friday

Your Graduate Programme
Our two-year programme offers you five placements across your allocated business area, complemented by a choice of placements to suit your personal development needs in core functions such as Finance, Health & Safety, People, and Procurement, enabling you to have a balanced understanding of the business. You’ll gain hands-on experience, technical and leadership training, and support from mentors, managers, graduate alumni, and our Early in Careers team to support you from the day you make the decision to join us.
By the end of the scheme, you’ll be ready to step into a permanent role and make a lasting impact.
Your Team
Engineering is a fundamental, enabling function residing at the heart of the way we manage our operational assets to deliver excellent customer service and protect the environment for the benefit of the people who live within and visitor Yorkshire. With expertise spanning Process, Chemical Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation we support every aspect of the asset lifecycle - from concept through to decommissioning – by creating and managing assets that can last more than 100 years and so, no two days can ever the same.
Our Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) Engineering team designs, creates, upgrades, improves and modifies and embeds mission-critical operational assets that truly underpin excellent customer service and protects the environment. Through our pursuit of modernization we are building and embedding the foundations for our Industry 4.0 future by:
Increasing both the depth and breadth of asset health and performance monitoring
Implementing and integrating ever-more connected automation technologies
Reinforcing the resilience and security of ICA assets
Expanding, enhancing and renewing our ICA estate
Unlocking and embedding the potential that Machine Learning systems and eventually, Artificial Intelligence offers the business.
Your Role:
As a Graduate ICA Engineer you will:
Investigate and understand the root cause of asset failure
Identify and promote opportunities for targeted capital investment
Identify safety / environmental hazards and support the engineering design processes to design and develop robust control systems that keep customers & colleagues safe and protect the environment
Design and implement asset improvements that enhance asset security, resilience, performance and reduce operating costs
Assist in the renewal, improvement and expansion of complex control systems
Develop and trial Reliability Centred Maintenance that prolongs the life of ICA assets
What you’ll need to be successful:
Minimum 2:1 Bachelors degree in a Control and Automation or Electrical & Electronic Engineering discipline
Enthusiasm and a drive to succeed
UK Driving License and Access to own vehicle
