Yorkshire Water Graduate Scheme – Programme Graduate – Water Network Asset Management 

 

Location: West Yorkshire with requirement for flexible travel across Yorkshire & Humber. 

 

Work type:  37 hours per week between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm Monday – Friday

Your Graduate Programme 

 

The Future Leader Graduate programme at Yorkshire Water offers 5 placements across our business, partners and regulators where we will support, develop and utilise your exceptional skill set to tackle our challenges head on and drive our business performance forward.  You will play a pivotal role in the continuous improvement activities at Yorkshire Water with exposure across all elements of our business. You’ll gain hands-on experience, technical and leadership training, and support from mentors, managers, graduate alumni, and our Early in Careers team to support you from the day you make the decision to join us. 

 

By the end of the scheme, you’ll be ready to step into a permanent role and make a lasting impact. 

 

Your Team 

 

You will be directly linked to our Executive team via our People function.  The placements you undertake, the activities you are involved in and the development journey you go on will all be reviewed and sponsored by our Senior Leaders, who will offer support and guidance throughout.  You will be at the heart of our business, in the middle of resolving our challenges and building a foundation to be a senior leader of the future. 

 

Your Role:  

 

As a Future Leader graduate, you will:  

 

  • Develop a robust practical understanding of strategy and regulation requirements, enhanced through placements with our external stakeholders 
  • Grow an understanding of our end to end business and the essential roles we play in the environment and striving for excellence for our customer 
  • Support the development and effective implementation of key initiatives across strategy and regulation, corporate affairs, company secretary, customer service, finance, People, our frontline operations and asset delivery.  
  • Evidence strong data analysis, project and stakeholder engagement throughout your business unit placements 
  • Demonstrate a continuous motivation to improve our processes, practices and performance through influencing, problem solving and industry understanding

 

What you need to be successful: 

 

  • Minimum 2:1 in relative discipline i.e. Leadership and Management, Politics, Economics, Sustainability. 
  • High level of interpersonal and professional communication skills 
  • Driven to develop a deep understanding of the water industry regionally, nationally and internationally and to understand its role in public health, environmental protection, and climate adaptation. 
  • Commitment to continous improvement 
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across Yorkshire & Humber 

 

Salary & Benefits 

 

Starting salary: £32,000, rising to £37,000 by end of year 2 

Extras: £2,000 signing bonus, annual bonus, 25 days holiday + bank holidays + wellness day 

  • Pension: Up to 12% company contribution
