Location: This is regional role so location is negotiable, hybrid working (1-2 office days / week).
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Our Water Service Delivery team is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators by ensuring our network operations are environmentally sound and compliant.
Where you fit in:
As our Environmental Specialist (Network) you will:
- Act as the company expert on environmental matters specifically related to Clean Water Network Assets.
- Support the Compliance Framework with the goal of achieving 100% environmental compliance across the network.
- Work collaboratively with the Water Network Operational Team and the Water Asset Planning Team to address specific environmental issues, drive improvements, and ensure effective management and mitigation of any adverse impacts.
- Lead liaison with the Environment Agency (EA) on site-specific environmental issues.
- Support the Operational Environment Strategy Manager in influencing national environmental guidance and policies.
- Develop and manage future investment strategies aimed at reducing environmental risk and resolving complex, often historic, Water Network environmental issues, considering potentially conflicting priorities.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Educated to a relevant degree level or possess extensive professional experience in an environmental field.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant environmental issues and associated regulations impacting water networks.
- Experience in the application of Health and Safety management processes and systems.
- Be a self-motivated and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational skills.
- Possess strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey complex environmental information clearly.
- Have the ability to coach and mentor others on technical environmental matters.
- Clearly demonstrate the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours in your work.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to effectively influence and negotiate on environmental matters at local, regional, and potentially national levels.
- Be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally.
- Be proficient in the use of IT systems and software relevant to the role.
- Hold a full, valid driving license.
You will also benefit from having:
- Financial awareness relevant to environmental projects and investments.
- Previous experience working in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Root Cause Analysis techniques.
- Proficient knowledge of Yorkshire Water's corporate systems.
- Knowledge of Yorkshire Water's risk policy and processes.
- Experience in incident management processes related to environmental issues.
