We have an exciting opportunity for a DPC Engineering Design Manager to join the Engineering Asset Delivery Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Major Projects DPC schemes are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.  

 

YW’s Strategic Resources Options (SRO) function will deliver an ambitious programme of water resources supply-side solution evelopment/implementation to meet company, regional and national water supply challenges. To support the engineering and design components of the programme through project definition and early gate development work, Yorkshire Water are seeking an experienced SRO technical Engineering and design lead.

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our DPC Engineering Design Lead you will;

 

  • Provide leadership, technical direction and management to a multi-disciplinary engineering design team 
  • Spearhead and optimise the engineering assurance process for designs prepared at tender and construction design. 
  • Provide expert engineering support to the design, construction and commissioning process from project definition through to detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover of DPC schemes.  
  • Ensure that the design team, design consultants and construction partners develop technically and economically proficient engineering solutions against a TOTEX and whole life cycle process (cost & carbon). 
  • Manage the liaison with suppliers, technical planning and procurement personnel on design and specification of equipment and construction activities in order to increase the quality and number of standard designs and percentage of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).  
  • Be the impetus to developing innovation and engineering excellence through the programme by leading partner forums and supply chain engagement.  

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • A desire to improve our natural environment.  
  • A passion for driving technical change and improvement through challenging the status quo.  
  • An understanding of the benefits of systemic thinking to drive effective solutions.  
  • Chartered Engineer status with a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.  
  • Significant, proven relevant engineering design, construction and management experience. 
  • Experience of driving innovation and optimisation of plant and processes.  
  • Experience of managing and driving a multi-discipline technical/engineering team with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.  
  • Significant knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes.  

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Managing the preparation of documentation for regulatory submissions including RAPID gateway submissions and Ofwat DPC stages. Where necessary, coordinating engineering and design inputs on SRO projects into Price Review, WRMP and other regulatory submissions.
  • Establish and manage an appropriate governance and assurance process for effective decision making and approvals of DPC engineering and design activities, where necessary aligning with existing YW processes. 
  • Drive excellent standards and performance in engineering and design management, regulatory and internal stakeholder management, health and safety, risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Policy.
  • Demonstrate relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for YW that rigorously achieves against demanding sector leading customer service.
