Location: Buttershaw, Bradford with travelling as required around the Yorkshire region.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Resilience and emergencies professional Apprentice to join the Central Control Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

You will be joining a dynamic team with a diverse set of skills who are at the forefront of supporting the Yorkshire Waters risk and incident management processes.
Water industry risks are diverse and often fast paced so both proactive and reactive elements are continually being implemented, tested and improved to maintain strict regulatory targets that the team strive to exceed.
You’ll be interacting with Yorkshire Water colleagues at all levels as well as other partners within response organisations to ensure efficient interoperability not only during but pre and post incident.
As a Resilience and Emergencies Professional Apprentice you will be absolutely central to delivering on our Yorkshire Water vision of delivering a thriving Yorkshire, right for our customers and right for the environment.
Where you fit in:
As our Resilience and Emergencies professional Apprentice you will learn to develop competence in:
- Communicating and working alongside internal and external stakeholders at different levels of seniority during crisis events.
- Applying risk management tools and techniques to assess risks that are associated during crisis.
- Managing the company incident room, ensuring it’s prepared for times of crisis and utilising its facilities during crisis.
- Utilise resilience tools and techniques to reduce the risk of crisis
- Ensuring our operations are protected, free from threat and ready to serve our customers.
- Creating responses before, during and after crisis to ensure stakeholders are kept updated.
- Applying, improving and maintaining systems of work and technologies to improve the way in which responses to crisis are carried out.
What apprenticeship will I be studying and how will it be delivered:
You will be studying the level 6 Resilience & Emergencies Professional Apprenticeship Standard which is a degree apprenticeship delivered by Coventry University. The Apprenticeship covers core elements of crisis management such as legislation, utilising intelligence, engagement methods, partnership working and stakeholder management. The apprenticeship is delivered through Coventry University on a blended learning pathway meaning there is some block release delivery and travel to Coventry University will be required. What you will need:
- To hold 5 GCSEs or equivalent grade 4 and above/ A-C including English & Mathematics.
- To have 3 A-Levels or equivalent qualifications grade C/Pass or above in any subject.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to adapt communication skills according to the audience.
- An ability to maintain levels of professionalism when working with internal and external stakeholders at different levels of seniority.
- The ability to take ownership of tasks and actions and have conviction in their approach to solving problems.
- Flexible with their approach to their work due to the nature of the role and different types of crisis that can potentially occur.
- A keen interest in disaster recovery within the Water Industry.
- A willingness to develop leadership skills.
- A driving licence with the use of your own vehicle for business purposes.
