Location: Headingley Water Treatment Work, Otley Road, West Park, Leeds, LS16 5JY with the requirement for regional travel.

 

Work type: Permanent. As an education adviser, to undertake an annualised hours contract working 3 days per week / 36 weeks per year including holiday entitlement.  Our working days are usually Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.  Your role will include delivery at our education centre at Headingley Water Treatment Works, Leeds, outreach in schools and communities and our virtual delivery programme.

The Education & Engagement team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an education adviser to offer a warm Yorkshire welcome to our diverse range of visitors and deliver an exceptional visitor experience through engaging and informative on-site visits, as well as our 'in-person' and virtual outreach programmes. While knowledge of the water industry or teaching experience is highly desirable, it is not essential. We seek a confident communicator who can build rapport with visitors of all ages and enjoys being part of a busy and flexible team. The role involves working with teachers and students, delivering site visits at our operational works and programmes within a school environment, and staying updated with the water industry and educational sector. This annualised hours contract involves working three days per week for 36 weeks per year, including holiday entitlement, with responsibilities at our education centre at Headingley Water Treatment Works, Leeds, outreach in schools and communities, and virtual delivery. Flexibility in supporting the business with educational work requirements is crucial, including delivering tours on other days or at other sites, working with the general public at open days, assisting with key stakeholder visits, and enhancing educational resources. The successful candidate must pass an enhanced DBS check before any formal offer can be made.

As our Educational Advisor your role will include:

 

  • Delivery of education visits within the classroom and at treatment works, demonstrating a sound understanding of the water treatment process, the precious nature of water resources, and actively promoting the value of the Company's activities and investment programme.
  • Responsiblity for Health & Safety of our visitors during site tours and outreach programmes.
  • Delivery of education outreach visits into schools and communities.
  • Assisting with our virtual programme of live events.
  • Ensuring all visitors receive a high-quality experience.
  • Education centre 'set-up' and site safety checks prior to visits commencing.
  • Effective liaison with (a) site operators to ensure safe and smooth running of planned visits and (b) teachers and members of the public.
  • To be an ambassador for the team and for the brand.
  • To assist with the development of our education and outreach offering for all audiences.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Experience of educating students and/or other age groups
  • A full driving licence.
  • Proficient in the use of IT, with experience of Microsoft software

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Knowledge of the national curriculum
  • Understanding of the water industry and treatment processes
  • First Aid training
